We love the flash of bold colour against the textured brass - just like the bright outfits worn on the streets of Dakar.

These ones have real movement, rippling as you go.

A little behind the scenes of creating a new range… because it takes a LOT of experimenting! 👀

We knew we wanted textured brass - but brass is a hard metal, and getting texture onto it turned out to be a very different question.

We tried roller printing everything we could think of.
Many, many failed attempts followed - including a slightly committed phase of trying to texture with sea urchin spikes or other slightly fishy-smelling coastal items (sorry to all those who visited the workshop on those days!)

Even once we landed on the idea of fabric, there was plenty more to troubleshoot - from fabric creasing and creating uneven texture, to rolling too loose to leave a mark, to rolling too tight and breaking the machine!

The process is never straightforward. But it’s so worth it when you land on something new that you’re proud of - and it definitely helps to go through it with a friend. Huge thanks to Sharon for trawling the beaches with me, and gently suggesting maybe sea urchins weren’t the one 😅

A look at how we’ve been texturing our brass with fabric! 👀

We dug out this old machine, de-rusted it, and got it rolling again.

So satisfying peeling back the fabric and seeing how the texture’s come out.

Next up, Ndeymour’s unique design!

No Ndeymour design would be complete without some eye-catching movement, and these are no exception!

We love the organic form of the colourful ‘pebble’, set on a strip of more geometric texture.

Created by imprinting the texture of an open weave linen she loves, and drawing the burgundy colour from one of her favourite tops.

And suspended on two hand-crafted ear wires, so they gently sway with your movement.
