What if an eye isn’t only a way of seeing, but a way of feeling, where what enters through sight lingers and turns inward.

This piece slid into that space somewhere along the way. It wasn’t something I planned. It began as two ideas my client loved, a cloud and an eye, and over months of wax forming, stone selection, casting, and setting, they came together.

A cobalt blue spinel is set at the center, held within an eye of diamonds. The top lashes form a cloud set with blue sapphires, while on the bottom I kept the “lashes”, curling downward, set with diamonds. A little wild, but tried to keep it elegant.

There are a few stories sitting inside it.

In Sikh poetry, “nainahu neer vahai” speaks of eyes overflowing with tears. I see it as that same inward movement, where sight turns into feeling and feeling spills over, where what is seen and what is felt are no longer separate.

Across cultures, the Evil Eye represents protection and awareness, from Greek traditions to Ancient Egypt, where the eye carries meanings of healing and watchfulness. The cloud, in many Eastern traditions, holds a sense of abundance, the feeling that something good is about to arrive.

All of it sits here together. Protection, longing, grace, or maybe just form, instinct, and feeling.

I keep looking at it and it keeps shifting.

What do you see?

Wishing my Sikh friends a joyful Vaisakhi, a happy Songkran, and a beautiful Easter to those celebrating ✨🧿👁️

A cushion-cut Burmese spinel in a hot, sensual hue set in 18K gold, with reverse-set diamonds adding edge—sculptural, sharp, strong. The contemporary saddle-shaped form wraps the pinky, with a sense of protection, armor like.⁣

A portion of proceeds from this piece supports earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar. All bespoke commissions placed through the end of May will contribute to this cause. ⁣

A bespoke custom ring featuring a Lagoon Tourmaline from Afghanistan, a cushion-cut, loupe clean stone, sitting between jeweler’s pliers. Acknowledging my Tarkhaan heritage—craftsmen known for their carpentry, a legacy passed down through my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.⁣

The design is a reimagining of my “Dharam” ring, which connects my Sikh roots with my Zambian heritage. Inspired by the studs of an Indo-Persian “Dhal” shield, the piece embodies bold strength and protection, both mental and physical. The reverse-set diamonds represent our ego and defense mechanisms, while the central stone symbolizes the true power within our subconscious mind.⁣

This ring that combines a fierce elegance with a personal story of heritage has become one of my most admired pieces. ⁣

Before the term "divorce ring" was popularized, I had the honor of creating a deeply personal symbol of empowerment for a client and friend. This vivid blue sapphire twist ring, set in yellow gold and diamonds, was a tribute to her strength and the courageous choice to leave a situation that no longer served her. The ring became a kind of talisman she wears everyday, but also a powerful reminder to herself of her resilience and self worth, honoring her ability to trust her own wisdom.

Seeing green for days—and loving every second of it! There’s something undeniably therapeutic about the vibrant green hue of emeralds, known for its calming and restorative effects. After a short break from gemstones, it was such a joy to be surrounded by these lush, mesmerizing greens at the 50th Gemfields auction.⁣

Honored to be invited to see these spectacular rough emeralds from the renowned Kagem Emerald mine—the largest emerald mine in the world. As a designer of Zambian and Sikh heritage, it’s deeply meaningful to connect with responsibly sourced gemstones from a place I’m lucky to call home.⁣

While I don’t usually work with rough emeralds, as a gemologist, I’m fascinated by their natural crystal structures, color zoning, and inclusions. These characteristics play a vital role in determining how the stones can be cut to show them off best. Skilled gem cutters then maximize the potential of these rough to reveal their full brilliance in faceted form, while minimizing loss of material.

The journey of a gemstone adds so much meaning and value to a finished piece . Learning where your stone came from makes your jewelry even more special. Thank you to Elena, for showing me this stunning new production. ⁣
