✴️ AMBER: Frozen Time — Drops of Time Frozen for Over 99 Million Years
From drops of tree resin in the Cretaceous period to "Myanmar Amber" (Burmite), preserving the traces of nature and ancient life up to the present day.
The exhibition "AMBER: Frozen Time — Drops of Time Frozen for Over 99 Million Years" conveys the story of Myanmar amber. It covers everything from its origins, formation process, physical characteristics, colors, and textures, to the transformation of amber into jewelry and artworks, offering visitors a chance to view authentic amber specimens up close.
✨ Exhibition Highlights
One of the key pieces is a Myanmar amber containing an ancient scorpion fossil. The amber measures approximately 42.91 × 32.38 × 11.08 mm and weighs 40.61 carats, with the shape of the scorpion clearly visible to the naked eye. This specimen perfectly reflects the value of amber as a natural "time capsule."
Another interesting aspect is the creation of amber jewelry, such as a golden-yellow Myanmar amber necklace, cut to sparkle like diamonds. Utilizing large beads of about 20–21 mm and weighing a total of 157 grams, this showcases that amber is not only valuable in terms of natural history but can also be beautifully developed into contemporary jewelry.
Additionally, there are Myanmar amber carvings, such as a carved amber Buddha statue measuring approximately 100 × 95 × 25 mm. This piece demonstrates its translucency, golden-yellow to honey hues, and the intricate craftsmanship required to carve such a delicate organic material.
Beyond rare amber specimens, the exhibition features over 20 pieces including raw amber, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, rings, monk's robes, and carvings. These can be viewed from multiple perspectives, ranging from science and natural history to art and jewelry.
