สถาบันวิจัยและพัฒนาอัญมณีและเครื่องประดับแห่งชาติ (GIT) ขอแสดงความอาลัยอย่างสุดซึ้งต่อการจากไปของ “ศาสตราจารย์กิตติคุณศักดา ศิริพันธุ์ (ราชบัณฑิต)” ผู้ก่อตั้งและผู้อำนวยการท่านแรกของสถาบัน
ตลอดช่วงเวลาที่ท่านดำรงตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการสถาบัน ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2541 – 2548 ท่านได้วางรากฐานสำคัญให้แก่ GIT ทั้งในด้านการพัฒนาห้องปฏิบัติการตรวจสอบอัญมณีและโลหะมีค่า การจัดทำมาตรฐานคุณภาพอัญมณี งานวิจัยและพัฒนา งานด้านวิชาการ ตลอดจนการเสริมสร้างองค์ความรู้และความน่าเชื่อถือให้แก่วงการอัญมณีและเครื่องประดับไทย อีกทั้งยังมีบทบาทสำคัญในการยกระดับขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันของอุตสาหกรรมอัญมณีและเครื่องประดับไทยในเวทีการค้าระดับนานาชาติ
ด้วยวิสัยทัศน์และความมุ่งมั่นของท่าน ห้องปฏิบัติการตรวจสอบอัญมณีของสถาบันได้รับการยอมรับอย่างกว้างขวางในระดับสากล และเป็นห้องปฏิบัติการต้นแบบที่สถาบันอัญมณีศาสตร์จากหลายประเทศเดินทางมาเยี่ยมชมและขอคำปรึกษาอยู่เสมอ
ท่านยังเป็นผู้ผลักดันให้งานวิจัยด้านอัญมณีศาสตร์พัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่อง ทั้งด้านการจัดทำมาตรฐานคุณภาพสีอัญมณี โดยเฉพาะมาตรฐานทับทิม ซึ่งนับเป็นรากฐานสำคัญของการพัฒนามาตรฐานสีอัญมณีของประเทศมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน ขณะเดียวกัน ท่านยังเป็นผู้ริเริ่มการศึกษาวิจัยด้านการตลาดและพฤติกรรมผู้บริโภคในตลาดต่างประเทศ ซึ่งในช่วงเวลานั้น งานลักษณะนี้ยังไม่แพร่หลายนักในประเทศไทย อันเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นสำคัญของการนำข้อมูลเชิงลึกมาใช้สนับสนุนการส่งออกและเพิ่มศักยภาพการแข่งขันของอุตสาหกรรมอัญมณีและเครื่องประดับไทย
อีกหนึ่งบทบาทสำคัญ คือ การนำพาสถาบันสู่การเป็นองค์การมหาชนอย่างเป็นทางการในปี พ.ศ. 2546 ซึ่งถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการพัฒนาองค์กรให้เติบโตอย่างมั่นคงและเป็นที่ยอมรับในระดับนานาชาติ
คุณูปการและความทุ่มเทของศาสตราจารย์กิตติคุณศักดา ศิริพันธุ์ (ราชบัณฑิต) จะยังคงเป็นรากฐานสำคัญของสถาบันวิจัยและพัฒนาอัญมณีและเครื่องประดับแห่งชาติ และเป็นที่จดจำของวงการอัญมณีและเครื่องประดับไทยสืบไป
สถาบันวิจัยและพัฒนาอัญมณีและเครื่องประดับแห่งชาติ (องค์การมหาชน) ขอร่วมไว้อาลัยและน้อมรำลึกถึงคุณงามความดีของท่านด้วยความเคารพยิ่ง

The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Professor Emeritus Sakda Siripant, the founder and first Executive Director of the Institute.
During his tenure as Executive Director from 1998 to 2005, Professor Emeritus Sakda Siripant laid an important foundation for GIT in many areas, including the development of gem and precious metal testing laboratories, the establishment of gemstone quality standards, research and development, academic advancement, as well as strengthening knowledge and credibility within the Thai gem and jewelry industry. He also played a significant role in enhancing the international competitiveness of Thailand’s gem and jewelry sector.
With his vision and dedication, GIT’s gem testing laboratory gained wide international recognition and became a model laboratory visited by gemological institutions from many countries seeking guidance and professional exchange.
Professor Emeritus Sakda Siripant also continuously promoted the advancement of gemological research, particularly in the development of gemstone color grading standards, especially ruby grading standards, which became an important foundation for Thailand’s gemstone color standardization that continues to this day. At the same time, he pioneered market and consumer behavior research in overseas markets, an area that was not yet widely practiced in Thailand at the time. His initiatives marked an important starting point for the use of market insights to support exports and strengthen the competitiveness of Thailand’s gem and jewelry industry.
Another significant achievement during his leadership was guiding the Institute toward becoming a public organization officially in 2003, marking an important milestone in the sustainable growth and international recognition of the organization.
The contributions and dedication of Professor Emeritus Sakda Siripant will remain an important foundation of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand and will continue to be remembered throughout the Thai gem and jewelry industry.
