Credor by Seiko เปิดตัว Locomotive ในปี 1979 โดยออกแบบโดย Gérald Genta นักออกแบบนาฬิกาชื่อดังชาวสวิส ผู้มีผลงานดีไซน์นาฬิกาสปอร์ตระดับตำนานหลายรุ่น

จุดที่น่าสนใจคือ Locomotive ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงนาฬิกาที่ใช้ชื่อ Genta แต่เป็นหนึ่งในโมเดลที่มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการสร้างเอกลักษณ์ด้านดีไซน์ของ Credor ในยุคแรก ๆ ด้วย

ทำไมถึงชื่อ “Locomotive”?
คำว่า Locomotive หมายถึง “หัวรถจักร” แต่ Genta ตั้งใจให้ชื่อมีความหมายอีกชั้นหนึ่ง คือ แรงขับเคลื่อน / driving force
แนวคิดคืออยากให้ Locomotive เป็นนาฬิกาที่ช่วย “ขับเคลื่อน” Credor ไปสู่อนาคต

ดีไซน์ที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์
สิ่งที่เห็นได้ชัดที่สุดคือ รูปทรง Hexagonal หรือหกเหลี่ยม ซึ่งถูกนำมาใช้ตั้งแต่ Case , Bezel , Dial , Bracelet , Crown
รายละเอียดต่าง ๆ ของตัวเรือน
ทำให้ตัวเรือนมีความรู้สึก แข็งแรง แต่ยังบางและหรู ซึ่งเป็นลักษณะที่พบได้ในงานออกแบบของ Genta ยุค 1970s

อีกจุดที่น่าสนใจคือการใช้ hairline/brushed finishing บน bezel และ bracelet ซึ่งช่วยให้ตัวเรือนมีมิติเมื่อกระทบแสง

นี่คือจุดที่ทำให้ Locomotive น่าสนใจกว่านาฬิกา Seiko/Credor Vintage ทั่วไป
Genta เป็น designer ที่สร้างดีไซน์ iconic ให้กับหลายแบรนด์ และ Credor ระบุอย่างเป็นทางการว่าเขาออกแบบ Locomotive ในช่วงที่มีความสัมพันธ์ใกล้ชิดกับ Seiko และเดินทางมาญี่ปุ่นในช่วงทศวรรษ 1970

ดังนั้นถ้าเจอ Credor Locomotive Vintage สภาพดีและชิ้นส่วนเดิมครบ ผมมองว่าควรเก็บรายละเอียดเรื่อง case, bracelet, dial และ crown ให้ละเอียด เพราะ character ของรุ่นนี้อยู่ที่งานออกแบบทั้งชุด ไม่ใช่แค่ตัวเครื่อง
