Most musicians are told that maqam and taqsim take 20–30 years.
 Turns out… that’s not true. 🎶
Our friend Maya Youssef — the world’s authority on maqam and taqsim — is breaking down one of the biggest myths in Arabic music:
Taqsim is not just pure improvisation.
It is a learnable skill. ✨
And the good news?
You don’t need:
• Decades of study.
 • Any prior music or theory knowledge.
 • Or super technique.
All you need is 5 days, your instrument 🎻 and to join Maya’s upcoming free 5-day
‘Play an Authentic Taqsim Challenge’ 🎵
🗓 March 8–12, 2026
 ⏱ 20 minutes a day
 💻 Online + limited-time replays available
By Day 5, you’ll play a taqsim that actually sounds real. 🎼
If taqsim has ever felt mysterious or out of reach… this will change everything. 🌿

The melody doesn’t sing by itself.
It sings through the right technique and true maqam expression.

This is the approach Maya shares in her class —
where technique, emotion, and maqam come together.

If you want to go beyond notes
and start sounding like a real Qanunist,
