If " " can be reproduced, is it still rare?
Reuters reports that De Beers is entering the final stage of its sale, as its parent group responds to falling natural-diamond prices and the rise of lab-grown stones.
What is reshaping the diamond market, analysts note, is not scarcity of supply but the technology itself: a lab-grown diamond is chemically and optically near-identical to a mined one — grown in weeks, rather than formed over billions of years.
Once "rare" can be reproduced, it is no longer rare.
For fifty years, JUSTLEE has stayed the same: only natural, unheated colored gemstones.
A Burmese pigeon blood ruby, a Kashmir royal blue — their value lies not in being few, but in being impossible to replicate. The earth produced each under conditions it will not repeat, and " " is the proof that nothing was ever intervened.
The real distinction was never diamonds against colored gemstones. It is what can be manufactured, against what cannot be reproduced.
