Tourmaline jewelry needs basic maintenance—simple cleanings repeated at regular intervals.

- Clean Gently: dust loves tourmaline, so regular baths in warm water with a mild soap and a soft brush help it stay sparkly. Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners.
- Mixed stability: tourmaline is generally unaffected by light and chemicals. Heat, however, can change its color, and sudden temperature changes can cause fractures.
- Store safely: at 7 – 7.5 on the Mohs scale, tourmaline is relatively hard. But other tourmaline and harder gems, like sapphires and diamonds, can scratch it. Store yours in a soft pouch or separate compartment in your jewelry box.

Opals are known for their captivating play-of-color, but they require special care to protect their beauty.

- Clean gently: Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners, which can damage opal. Instead, clean opal jewelry with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth.
- Avoid heat, dry conditions & chemicals: Opal contains water within its structure. Dry conditions and high heat can cause opals to turn white or chalky or even crack. Avoid prolonged storage in very dry environments like a safe and exposure to heat sources like halogen lamps.
- Store carefully: Opal ranges from 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness, making it susceptible to scratches from many other gems. Store opal jewelry separately in a soft pouch or a lined compartment of a jewelry box.
