This remarkable 20.13-carat transparent pinkish-orange Väyrynenite was recognized in 2025 as the world’s largest faceted Väyrynenite, earning a Guinness World Record.

Gem-quality Väyrynenite is extraordinarily scarce. The mineral has been recovered from only a handful of locations around the world, including Finland, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria, and relatively few crystals are suitable for cutting into gemstones.

Some diamonds are beautiful. Others feel almost unreal.

The Golden Empress, created by Graff from a remarkable diamond discovered at the Letšeng mine in Lesotho, began as a 299-carat rough stone.

Graff’s master lapidarists eventually revealed a spectacular 132.55-carat cushion-cut Fancy Intense yellow diamond, along with eight smaller satellite diamonds from the same rough.

Its incredible scale is only part of the story. The stone displays a rich, deeply saturated honey-yellow color that makes it exceptionally rare.

Only around 1 in 10,000 diamonds possesses enough natural color to receive a Fancy color grade — and an even smaller proportion reaches Fancy Intense saturation.

Nature created it over billions of years. Human craftsmanship revealed what was hidden inside.
