I had the best jobs in Vietnam so says this Vietnam vet.
It all started right out of high school then going to the local community college and during the first semester a friend and I decided to take a vacation down to Acapulco. Camping on the beach at 5:00 in the morning on New Year's of 1969 soldiers wrapped on the the van I owned. Guns were pointed and we were told to put 13 large bags I counted into the back of a pickup. After 101 days in the Acapulco jail and going to court we were charged with seven bags of ma*****na, whatever happened to the other six, I have no idea. "The Mexican Army sold it." Yes we were innocent. We were released, as the judge said there was not enough evidence with the help of our attorney. The irony of this, is that the first time I smoked ma*****na was in the jail. Coming back to the States the draft was after me as I was no longer going to college. I decided to play catch up on school by taking 21.5 units for a semester and also took the same for another semester. I did gardening work and other maintenance jobs before this. My dad was able to get me a job as an x-ray technician in metallurgy taking X-rays of welded airplane parts. I took a photography class in HS. As a kid I was brought up in Guam for 8 years and then we moved to Australia for 2 years where I was constantly in the sun and on the beach. I surfed and swam and had some lifeguard training. One of the half units in collage happened to be a water safety instructor class, so I received my WSI. I did receive my AA degree. I got tired playing around with the draft, working full-time on the graveyard shift doing x-ray work and going to school 21.5 units which is a heavy load. I decided to volunteer for the Army. I was sent to fort Ord for basic training and because of my background in X-ray and developing films I was the base photography or one of the base photographers doing you know grip and grins sport shoots and promotions. I was noty sent to an advanced training class. My MOS was a 84 B20 or still photographer right out of basic. I was at Fort Ord for a total of about 8 months. Total time of the service was 19 months, honorable discharge from Vietnam as a spec 4. In Vietnam, I was there 11 months. I was assigned to the 9th med lab in Long Binh taking pictures of drug records by micro film and then developing the film that would sent back to Walter Reed hospital. I was there for about 3 months or so. I also did courier work down to Saigon and drove a duece and a half or an ambulance when tah unit strarted to stand down. The doctors didn't care what we did and so there's other stories I can tell you about. That unit was standing down so I could go home or find another job. As I was a photographer, I found a position with the Stars and Strips newspaper in Saigon also did administration work. Traveled parts of the country. Miss America was going to see some M P's in Saigon and I was to take pictures. Boy did see become a bitch. One time I was up in Hue and a colonel said to me, who the hell are you! We never wore a rank so I said, Rich Mueller with stars and stripes he looked at my uniform and it said stips and stars so spelling was wrong than another one was wrong, only one said Stars and Stripes. That unit was standing down and I'm having a good old time in Vietnam and I saw something in the paper they're looking for a lifeguard at the Army Vung Tau R & R base. I called and got in by air condition station wagon and drove to Vung Tau from Saigon. The sergeant asked me when he interviewed me, can you swim the pool I said I could do that underwater back and forth. I also showed him my WSI. Hired. I was in charge of the pool with working hours like 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Yes I surfed there, sail boated and water skied in the Mekong river or more so by Vung Tau. Late January of 1973 the war would end and the majority of us could go home. I was out of the service in the first week of February. At the San Francisco air port the Sargent who hired me was there and I said I will buy you a drink. What a shock when the waitress wanted to see my ID. They never asked that in Nam. Out of the service I could have been a photographer but that was a little boring to me. As I found 2 of my jobs in Nam, I figured I could find anybody a job. I got into the employment business. I became quite successful as a Headhunter AKA pimp where I migrated from regular jobs to putting computer people to work. Make a long story short I retired from that and now I play with rocks and turquoise primarily. 99.99 % of the Vietnam Vets did not have it as good as me. God bless all of you

Newsom is at it again. He needs the so called democrat celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Bruce Springsteen, George Clooney and many more for votes. Responding to pleas from California’s film industry, which has struggled to rebound from labor unrest and industry disruption, Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday announced a proposal to more than double the size of the state’s film tax incentive program to $750 million annually. The money comes from me as a tax payer. The industry is in a slump as the TV has 100's of channels and 100's of movies you will never see in a lifetime. Kick the bum out.

In California and other states, one should vote NO on all sales tax increases. If you remember, not too long ago the dollar tree was selling stuff for $1.00. Then it went to $1.25 so we paid the inflation and the tax collectors got a raise of 25%. VOTE and kick the bums out.
