thers opened jewelry stores in Lancaster and York, Pennsylvania, as well as a store in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 1923, husband-and-wife duo Charles and Mildred Kranich opened the doors of our Altoona store as part of the company’s expansion. Charles and Mildred were later joined in the business by their son, Michael, in 1962. After years of nurturing relationships with customers in these locations, the Kranich family opened another store, this time in downtown State College, PA, home of Penn State University. In 1978, Charles and Mildred passed away, and the family business was taken over by their son, Michael. As the years passed, Michael opened additional locations in the Johnstown Galleria in Johnstown, PA, and dramatically expanded the Logan Valley Mall location and corporate offices. Michael turned to his family members to help grow and maintain the business. In 1991, he was joined by his son Charles, and five years later by his other son, Michael. Today, Charles and Michael serve as co-presidents of Kranich’s Jewelers, a truly family-owned and operated business since the very beginning. Throughout our more than 120 years of serving the Central Pennsylvania region, one constant has remained: our specialization in fine diamond jewelry and engagement rings. Today, we’ve expanded our offerings to include fine timepieces, colored gemstones, family jewelry, designer collections, estate jewelry, and Penn State jewelry.
