As the area's only Certified Gemologist Appraiser, Clay often takes in estate pieces, and examines the gemstone, quality and value. If you come in to the store, you just may find Clay with an heirloom in hand with a story to tell.

October's a little unusual. Most months get one birthstone, however October gets two: opal and tourmaline.

Opal's the one people usually think of first. Every stone is different, flashes of color shifting depending on how the light hits it, and no two are ever quite alike. It's also one of the softer stones we work with, so it needs a little more care day to day.

So while Opal's a great piece for special occasions, October's alternate gemstone is more durable for every day wear. Stay tuned for part 2, more on Opal and Tourmaline 🩷

This customer had some diamonds she had gotten from Pollock's over 20 years ago, and it was time to breathe new life into them.

We took the diamonds from three separate rings, kept every stone, and rebuilt it into a design she picked out herself. Before she committed to the casting, she tried it out on a wax ring, making sure she loved it, and she absolutely did.

The sentimental part didn't change, just the way it's worn now.

If you've got stones from an old piece and no idea what to do with them, this is exactly the kind of project we love.

Not everything in the case is a ring or a necklace. We keep a rotating selection of pre owned luxury bags too, each one checked for authenticity before it ever goes on the shelf.

This week Under the Loupe, Clay's breaking down something we haven't covered yet on here: how lighting changes the way a diamond actually looks.

As a Certified Gemologist Appraiser, Clay is required to get a color vision test every 4 years! This guarantees an accurate color grade and making sure your diamond is quality.
