Rainy Sunday in the studio ☔️✨
I did my first Instagram Live sale today, and then somehow sat down afterward and spent six hours bringing a brand-new design to life. 🤍
One thing I’ve learned about myself as an artist is that I don’t really sketch my designs anymore. I used to, but now when an idea comes into my head, I need to start working with the materials immediately. I have to see it take shape in my hands.
This little leather gemstone pouch existed entirely in my imagination this morning, and tonight, here she is. 🥹
I started with leather swatches and cut, shaped and hand-stitched the entire pouch myself. I hand-cut every leather strip and tassel, created the recycled brass jump rings, hand-beaded the dangling details, and finished it with sterling silver, gold-fill accents and a beautiful malachite gemstone centerpiece.
There is something so incredibly satisfying about looking at a finished piece and knowing that every little part passed through my own two hands.
This first one took me about six hours from start to finish, and I only made ONE today. More will come, but slowly, because I want each one to have that same attention and intention.
They’ll be $295 each, and I feel really good about that price because this is what truly handmade looks like. No factory. No assembly line. Just an artist, her materials, her hands, and an idea that finally became something real. 🤍
