Did you know May 23rd is World Turtle Day? Many coasts, including in and around Atlantic Beach, are important nesting grounds for sea turtles.

Nesting season runs May through October here, and your simple actions can make a big difference!

• Turn off or shield beachfront lights at night
• Fill in holes you have dug on the beach
• Remove chairs, umbrellas, and beach equipment each evening
• Keep beaches clean and free of trash
• If you see a sea turtle or nest on the beach, stay back and do not disturb them. Also report any injured or stranded turtles to the proper local wildlife organization!
