Sometimes I forget just how wild it is that this is my job.

I get to spend my days hunting down incredible crystals, fossils, and minerals, then transforming them into jewelry that lets people carry a piece of Earth’s history with them. Every stone, fossil, and tooth has its own story. Some formed deep underground. Some crystallized millions of years ago. Some belonged to ancient creatures that once swam through prehistoric oceans.

These are a few of my favorite pieces currently available on the website, including genuine Megalodon and Great White shark tooth fossils, handmade bolo ties, gemmy green dioptase, black tourmaline, pyrite, raw ruby earrings, pink moonstone, red moss agate, turquoise, emeralds, chrysocolla, pink tourmaline, an Equus horse tooth fossil, and ancient ammonite fossils.

As a Baltimore artist, I’m endlessly inspired by natural history, deep time, and the strange beauty of the mineral world. I love creating jewelry that feels like it belongs somewhere between a museum collection, a relic from another era, and a personal talisman. Whether you’re drawn to fossils, crystal jewelry, statement earrings, bolo ties, or one-of-a-kind handmade pieces, I hope you find something here that speaks to you.

And truly, thank you. Every order, every comment, every share, every person who chooses to wear my work makes it possible for me to keep creating. I never take that for granted.

went to a gem show with perfectly reasonable intentions.

Nereus pointed out the Libyan Desert Glass I had been hoping to find. Three hours later I was crouched over the tray muttering, “OOOH…look at this on!” for the 47th time, slowly growing my Golllum’s PRECIOUS collection.

Three days later, I regret nothing- well maybe not buying more- haha!

A collection is coming, and apparently so is my new personality.

Thanks to Nereus for documenting my descent into crystal goblin behavior and I think I have also planted the seed of a new obsession in him as well. 😂

Yours in 29-million-year-old obsessions,
xo,

Not all heirlooms come from family.

Some begin as a fossil, a gemstone, and a story waiting for the right person to find it.

These one-of-a-kind bolo ties were created for people who collect wonder and wear what they love unapologetically.

Tell me—which one stole your heart?

✨ The collection is now live.

Being interviewed always makes me pause and reflect on how far this journey has taken me.

One of the questions I was asked was where my resilience comes from. The answer surprised me in its simplicity: I keep going because this work feels deeply aligned with who I am and what I’m here to create.

Leaving a secure corporate career to build Become Spellbound wasn’t easy. It required trusting my intuition, developing discipline, and continuing to choose passion over fear, even when the path wasn’t clear.

One line from the interview that continues to stay with me:

“Obstacles feel less like defeats and more like opportunities to learn, adapt, and grow.”

To anyone standing at a crossroads right now: pay attention to the things that genuinely energize you. Sometimes that quiet knowing is pointing you exactly where you need to go.

Thank you to Bold Journey Magazine for sharing my story.

And if you’re a stylist, costume designer, or creative director dreaming up immersive worlds, I’d love to connect.
🤍✨

I was on my way to the post office to send this Moldavite talisman to its new guardian when I glanced down and spotted a four-leaf clover. 🍀✨

Maybe it was coincidence.
Maybe it was luck.
Or maybe it was a little parting gift from the Moldavite before beginning its next adventure.

Either way, it made me smile.

If you’re new here, I’m Kari, the artist behind Become Spellbound. I create handmade crystal and fossil jewelry inspired by the natural world, fantasy, and sci-fi; transforming ancient materials into one-of-a-kind talismans designed to empower, enchant, and tell a story.

Moldavite is one of the world’s most fascinating tektites: natural glass formed during an ancient cosmic impact event. Alongside Libyan Desert Glass and other impact materials, these intergalactic treasures have captivated people for generations because their stories begin with the meeting of Earth and the cosmos.

I recently published a new blog exploring the science, history, and mystery behind Moldavite, Libyan Desert Glass, and other tektites. You can find it through the link in my bio, along with a few available pieces featuring these remarkable materials.

I’m already working on more cosmic talismans, so if wearable pieces rooted in wonder, ancient history, and a touch of magic speak to you, I hope you’ll stick around.

XO,
Kari

CRYSTAL BATH TIME at the GEM SHOW🛁✨💎

What started as a normal gem show somehow turned into the grand opening of the Crystal Bath House. 🛁💎😂

Nereus kicked things off with an emerald arm scrub. I opted for a luxurious Herkimer diamond exfoliation. Then our gem dealer casually announced that, personally, he’d use a ruby as a pumice stone- almost too logical methinks.

At that point, there was no going back.

Suddenly there were tourmaline crystal facials, pink kunzite gua sha treatments, and three adults laughing so hard we could barely breathe in the middle of a gem show.

To be clear: no crystals were actually used as skincare products. We just collectively lost the plot somewhere between the ruby tray and the tourmalines. 🤣

Tell me… if the Crystal Bath House existed, what treatment would you book first?

Yours in Crystal silliness,
Kari and Nereus
