Ia my Soul asleep?
Have those beehives that labored at night stopped?
And the water
wheel of thought,
is it dry, the cups empty
wheeling, carrying only shadows?

No my soul is not asleep.
It is awake, wide awake.
It neither sleeps nor dreams
but watches, its clear eyes open,
far off things, and listens
at the shores of the great silence.
....Antonio Machado

Greetings sister and brother SoulCollagers!

No, my beehives haven't stopped, nor has my water wheel but I have taken a long sabbatical while selling, moving and resettling in a new home. At the same time, my counseling practice got very, very busy! But it's time to get rejuvenated and start giving workshops again. And I hope your beehives and water wheels have been busy making SoulCollage ® cards and more importantly, using your souls' wisdom that are in your cards for guidance. I know I have in this quite tumultuous time in my life and they have supported me immensely!

So take a look below at the workshops for late March and April. I hope to see you at one or more of them! Remember, you must take the introduction to
SoulCollage ® before you can take the other courses.

All my best,
Christine Talbott

Dear SoulCollage ® friends: I am cancelling this Sunday's workshop because I am moving! My house"sold yesterday and I am moving on Nov 26th so there is much to pack and prepare for the move. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Once moved, I plan on getting back on track with having two workshops a month in the new year. I hope you all have a great holiday! And keep making those cards! Christine

SoulCollage ® Quote for the day: “The brain is by far the most complex piece of highly excitable matter in the known universe by any measure. We don’t even understand the brain of a worm.”
— Christof Koch, the chief scientist and president of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, explaining some of the challenges involved in artificial intelligence design.

But new pathways to the wisdom our brains and hearts can be found through images in the SoulCollage ® process ! There are still places available in all the fall workshops. Join us! Details below.

Soul poem of the day from "The Soul Is Here For Its Own Joy: Sacred Poems from Many cultures" edited by Robert Bly

Is My Soul Asleep?

Is my soul asleep?
Have those beehives that work
in the night stopped? And the water-
wheel of thought, is it
going around now, cups
empty, carrying only shadows?

No, my soul is not asleep.
It is awake, wide awake.
It neither sleeps nor dreams, but watches,
its eyes wide open
far-off things, and listens
at the shores of the great silence.

Greeting SoulCollagers ® new and acquainted.

It's time for me to start committing to a SoulCollage ® training schedule for the fall and winter. Life right now for me is pretty uncertain as I've got my home on the market to sell and I'm not sure where to or when I'm moving, but it will be somewhere in the area, I'm going to take a leap of faith and schedule workshops anyway. Along with my personal SoulCollage ® practice this summer, I have gotten reacquainted with poetry of all colors and age. Poetry is very much like our SoulCollage ® practice in that it creates images from which we receive intuitive hits. I recently re- read Invictus by the 19th century English poet William Ernest Henley and thought how soul driven this man was. He had a very tragic life including having tuberculosis as a child, resulting in having a foot amputated and later in life losing his cherished six year old daughter. I won't quote the whole poem here (but you can view it at https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/51642/invictus . But I want to share the first and last verses here because I think it's so apropos of our SoulCollage ® play:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul. ..

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

If you picture a ship captain, especially from Henley's time in history, the captain is the one who determines where the ship goes. We are captains of our souls, and SoulCollage ® gives us the wonderous opportunity to steer our soul-ships with greater confidence, providing a compass and a wheel to know our souls' capacity to love and be loved in the process. Our SoulCollage ® cards are our allies, guides, and challengers. So this fall I am focusing on introducing SoulCollage ® to new soul seekers and for those who have taken the introduction, I'm offering two classes that concentrate our focus on how to read our cards with greater confidence. Check events below for dates and time and I hope I see you soon, bringing your souls to a workshop in the form of new SoulCollage ® cards!

My very best and blessings,
Christine

PS:From time to time on this page I will be sharing poetry that describes our souls. So “follow” and enjoy!

Hello SoulCollagers,

September is here and it's time for me to gear up and begin a new season of SoulCollage workshops. However, my cards have guided me to the decision that it's time to downsize, sell the home I had with my late husband and simplify my life, probably so I can put more energy into SoulCollage, which is a dream of mine. So right now my personal life is in flux as I prepare my home for the market which is keeping my weekends pretty darn busy. But I would like to offer a Play Date, free of charge, to all those who have taken Introduction to SoulCollage, on Sunday, October 21, 3-5 PM. This is open to the first 8 people who sign up and it involves at least one person volunteering to help me set up my office, and another to help me take it down after the workshop which usually takes about a half hour on each end. Everyone is invited to bring images to share, and a snack if you like. If I have an overwhelming response, I'll schedule another play date in early November. I can't tell you how helpful my cards have been in this major transition in my life and I hope you are using your cards and asking them questions because they are dying to inform you. So let me know if you are interested in signing up for this play date that will launch the '2018-19 season of SoulCollage workshops! Scroll down to events to sign up.

Greetings SoulCollage ® friends, In Maine summer is way too short and I am taking a breather from weekend SoulCollage ® workshops to make room for gardening and a trip home to my family's camp in western NY state where I will reconnect with old friends at a class reunion, and of course, spend lots of time reading and making my SoulCollage ® cards as I spend my second summer alone at my favorite place in the world. Discovering SoulCollage ® last year, just four months after losing my husband, was such a gift and blessing and I will continue growing, nurturing and learning what my Soul's wisdom has to offer me. For those who have taken a SoulCollage ® course, I encourage you to be sure and find some time to not only make cards this summer, but read them for they have deep, wonderful gifts of self understanding to reveal to you. Practicing reading helps you to dig even deeper and the messages become much clearer and surprise you as they reveal deeper understanding of the images you so intuitively put together on a card. Trust your gut! Trust your hunches! Trust that your cards are parts of your Soul-self speaking to you with deep love and wisdom. In August I will begin posting my schedule of introduction and advanced workshops for the fall. Until then, I hope you have a wonderful Soul- light- filled summer. Christine

The 14th century mystic, Meister Eckhart said" You ask me what the human soul is? No human science can ever fathom what the soul is in its depth. What the soul is in its ground, no one knows. But this is what we do know: The soul is where God works compassion." I am veering off of SoulCollage today to invite you to show your own capacity for soul-compassion by raising your voice about the unspeakable practice that is occurring at our southern border of separating detainees from their children. Thursday, June 21 is the longest day of the year and many churches, including my church, St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Brewer will be open for what is called The Longest Day Vigil and all are invited to come and spend a few minutes and thoughtfully reflect and pray for those families who have been separated from their loved ones. The church is open from noon until after 8 PM. A candlelight vigil service takes place at 7:30. Secondly, at 10 AM on Thursday, a group will meet with staff at Senator Collins' office in the Bangor Federal Building and all are
welcome to be present and show your support by being there.Remember, "Our soul is where God works compassion."

SoulCollage ® quote of the week from Seena Frost, Founder of SoulCollage ® : "...a 'hand-crafted life' (is) a life that is consciously assembled from pieces that you yourself select and craft together. Such a life is not one 'pulled off the rack,' having been put together by others or by a culture. The SoulCollage ® process of selecting images and making personal cards will serve as a daily reminder to handcraft your own life, to choose pieces that fit together meaningfully and with joy-both for you and for your planet." The energy is rising for our next workshop on June 16th! People are signing up. Check out the event below and join the party of SoulCollage ® enthusiasts!

This week's quote from Seena Frost, founder of SoulCollage® "Stir together the ingredients of your imagination and intuition with a few powerful, cut-out images, and you can create your first SoulCollage® card. After that you will probably want to make a second, a third, and, over time, many more. Gradually you can create your deck of very personal cards. ...they will help you explore your Soul, your shadow, and your inborn gifts." The next introductory workshop is June 16th.
