History:
Oaks Jewelers was founded in 1948 by Henry Accornero and his half brother, Bob Zavattaro. At that time, the store was approximately half the size it is today, and was operated solely by the two dedicated brothers. Later, Henry’s wife Angie Accornero joined the Oaks Jewelers team. In 1990 Henry’s sons, Jeff and Don, took over ownership of the family business, while Henry continued to work as an employee. With Don specializing in watch repair and Jeff specializing in jewelry repair, the brothers made a great team. Henry’s daughter Cheryl also worked as a sales associate at Oaks. When Don decided to retire in 2010, Jeff took over ownership. In 2012, Jeff’s daughter Melissa (Accornero) Macchi joined the Oaks Jewelers team as the third generation of the Accornero family. All 3 generations worked together until 2017, when Henry officially retired at the young age of 92. (Henry peacefully passed away in 2020 at age 95 - just weeks after his wife Angie.) Today Oaks Jewelers continues to be run by the Accornero family. In 2021, Cheryl and Jeff officially retired, and Melissa took over ownership with her business partner, Adam Nielsen. (Adam formerly was second generation owner of Griffin Goldsmiths, a jewelry trade shop that had partnered with Oaks Jewelers for over 30 years.) The Oaks team has continued to grow over the past several years, preserving Oaks Jewelers’ legacy of superior customer service, and quality fine jewelry.
