The Vacheron & Constantin reference 6087.

Manufactured in just 36 examples total this was the Maisons first waterproof chronograph. As you all are well aware I'm a time only guy but there is something simply undeniable about these mid twentieth century "dress" chronographs that parallel extremely well with my personal taste and aesthetics.

The watch that started me down this crazy, crazy journey.

I can still remember the day that I got it like it was yesterday. I had been researching and reading about vintage watches for almost 3 years before we could afford to buy one. My wife ending up purchasing the watch and gifting it to me for finally finishing school.

Not only was it my first vintage watch but it was my first ‘proper’ watch ever. I proceeded to wear this watch on the pictured strap every single day for nearly two years straight. It was with me when my brother got married, my first day at my big boy job, when my first child was born. It has accompanied me on countless birthdays, holidays, vacations, anniversaries, weddings, long long long workdays and nights. The watch is a personification of my

ABOUT THIS WATCH:

MANUFACTURER: Cartier

MODEL: Tank Louis

REFERENCE: 78086

SERIAL: 78086###x

YEAR: 1982

DIAL: The original, lacquered, white dial is in great shape. These dials were very prone to having a cracking in the lacquer. The lacquer appears to be completely free of any cracking and is beautiful condition. It is what collectors call a Paris dial giving nod to the fact that Paris is printed on the dial below the 6 o'clock hour marker.

CASE: 23mm width x 30mm height solid 18kt yellow gold. The case has been polished in the past. These case dimensions is the vintage "mens" size however could easily be worn by woman as well. It presents with wear commensurate for its age. It is completed by its original blue sapphire cabochon crown.

MOVEMENT: Cartier caliber 78-1. Service history is unknown. The watch winds, sets, runs and is keeping great time. It was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated the watch is keeping time within 3 seconds per day and has an amplitude of 294. The watch can be serviced for approximately $400 plus parts (if needed) at which point it will come with a one year warranty.

BRACELET: Comes on an original Cartier strap.

ACCESSORIES: Original Box, Cartier pamphlets, card holder, certificate of origin and Cartier strap.

BOX/PAPERS: Yes.

WARRANTY: None unless serviced first. If serviced the watch will come with a one year warranty dated from the completion of service.
