Throughout my life, my happiest times were spent designing my own jewelry and helping family and friends design and procure their unique jewelry. I was carrying on a joyful tradition going back to my childhood in India, where my parents’ gifts of jewelry on momentous occasions gave each piece a story. My mother’s pride in her jewelry collection and the independence it gave her made a big impression on me. I started AuXchange to honor and link forward the chain of inspiration and empowerment that has forever existed between women and jewelry. From my parents to myself to my daughter— back again and forward. I am also grateful for the opportunities that education has given me and realize that I am lucky for having had that. My hope is that women will use Au Xchange to empower themselves as well as support the mission of educating disadvantaged girls through jewelry.
