Oh how things have changed. If you know how Roger travels now it’s a bit different. What a story lived in Sri Lanka and India - and we’re here today because of it!

The way you can see the outline of the pavilion facets in this Tanzanite is 🔥🔥🔥. Bright and rich at the same time, that’s what we’re going for!

Polish matters. When you appreciate the whole gem, you don’t realize the parts that work together to make it beautiful. Polish is the final step that brings everything together and makes a well planned and executed design actually look good. That’s why we use a polish grit size that’s 4x finer than the international standard.

Plummy and saturated - but not too much. It’s hard to find Rhodolites in the pleasant and pleasing medium color that are still bright and lively. They often tend to be dark, inky, and rich which Garnet is so famous for in the red variety. This one is also quite large which can contribute to Garnet becoming overly dark - but not this unicorn!

Why this design, you ask? Sometimes there’s a great story behind it and sometimes it just struck Roger’s fancy overnight (not a joke!). This Tsavorite Garnet was a trillion with a very visible inclusion in a corner. Can you see the “missing” corner? 😅 While we love inclusions because they remind us of the true rarity of fine clarity gemstones and they tell us that a gem is the real deal, none of us really want them. So, we get a great story out of it!

Better late than never 😅 Meet the team, when we were much cuter. We promise Bjorn does smile (but we don’t have any evidence that he did as a child). Yes, his hat says “Happy 3rd Birthday Bjorn.”

Gem Faceting is a long game. It requires patience and steadiness. If you try to go fast, it usually looks like it! 😅 Like the true artists that they are, all four of our gem faceting team take whatever time is necessary to bring the maximum beauty out of every gem they facet.

“Rubellite” Tourmaline got its name for looking, at its best, like a magenta Ruby! The neon glamorous saturation makes these highly valued. The richer the color they’re prone to more inclusions, but this radiant emerald cut is vivid and relatively clean for its wildly rich color.

Blue Zircons have historically been predominantly mined in Cambodia. Recently, supply has been increasing from Malawi, however only in smaller sizes and lighter colors. Our source is still 100% Cambodian. After establishing our connections there in 2018, we’ve continued to purchase from the same source. In partnership with Cambodia’s efforts to increase their workforce in gem cutting, we purchase all of our Blue Zircons faceted and Roger (at a minimum) repolishes each facet so that it meets our standards (4x finer than the international standard) or recuts so that the design performs at maximum capacity.
