Pamela DeSantis of Honey Tribe Jewelry, is a designer and creator of one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art. She has a passion for metal, fire and stones and is unabashedly attracted to the handed down lore, mysticism and powers that different cultures have attributed to metals and stones throughout history. Pamela works primarily in bronze and brass, warm metals that wear their age with gorgeous, unpredictable grace and patina. She is drawn to hand cut stones that wield purpose in the metaphysical world and vintage findings that hold the spirits of their past. Her mission: to create beautiful pieces that empower, hold symbolism for and illuminate the beauty of each individual wearer. Intertwined with her role as artist, Pamela is the loving mother of three sons and a stepdaughter: Jett, Ronin, Django and Keira Tachibana. She is also the best friend and muddy running partner of an amazing southern "rescue dog", Purl, who can’t seem to get enough of the Maine woods. She’s passionate about music, dancing, farm to table cooking, doing yoga and journaling.

About a year and a half ago I discovered that the medium I worked with for my bastardized version of casting was discontinued never to be created or sold again. I had spent years perfecting its use. The technique I used to create some of my most beloved and iconic designs like my signature bee and the hearts. Needless to say this was a major blow to my work. Especially since learning a new method is mistly trial and error which is time consuming and frankly time is the most scarce resource in my life these days. I have had so many projects I want to bring to life, but put off dreading the failed attempts: opening the kiln after hours of working on a piece only to have it crumble in my hand. Over the past year I’ve stolen bits of time here and there, tested out a few products, had more than my share of foibles, but am starting to get the hang of it. In fact, I love the warm richness of this bronze perhaps a little more than the previous bronze I used. In love with this imperfect little hand I created this week. More to come!!!

A week of PM work and family ♥️ and now I’m back to the studio, just for a spell. I woke up to the most gorgeous sunrise today, a gift that autumn and winter give repeatedly here on Etherington Pond. But it triggered me as I remembered the sensation of being deep winter COLD and I recoiled. I am NOT heading into this winter unprepared again!! So I’m finishing up readying my space for a lush creative hunkerdown season. And today I will be putting some new learnin’ to the test and firing up the kiln for some meaningful castings. They’re not perfect. But after a slew of failed firing attempts with new materials I have finally found the equation and bronze medium that works!! The product I used to use religiously for over a decade (one that took me years to work out the bugs of) was discontinued last year and it has been quite an endeavor to find a new casting medium. BUT I think I’ve done it!! Casting is finally in production!! Stay tuned for some honey love!! ♥️

Self love is buying myself a one of a kind piece of jewelry from a major source of inspiration in developing my own brand 13 years ago. The 👁️. Moonstone in gold, haloed by diamonds. This piece marks the END of my giving it all away. A HUGE promise to myself. This woman, ME, Pamela, needs time to create and move her body in order to feel healthy and good. In order to have anything in her cup to pour from for others. In this past year, for a thousand reasons, I have had so much going on with work and family that I overlooked that. This piece from Jacquie Aiche is a dedication to restoring harmony. Here, paired with the light filled chubby diamond and gold Honey Tribe Jewelry necklace i created for my wedding, a piece which was also a huge and lasting promise to myself. Exhale. Change is afoot and I have determination, grace, and a little pocketed luck on my side. Manifesting the space to breathe and create. So many ideas and projects that would have lit me up have sat on the back burner for the past year. Bringing them into all of the free time I can muster and hoping you can manifest the same in your busy lives!!! Love you. Miss you. And no promises, but I started a casting series yesterday. Fern and Pine. A love letter to the wild landscape of Maine. A golden ode to the wilderness I throw myself into to recenter myself. Even though my puppy love, Wheeler, emerged today from our favorite forest with literal HUNDREDS of ticks on him. 🤮 Hours of picking and plucking. But I digress, because still…we love the forest. Sorry not sorry. Hand cast bronze pendant with citrine rondelles interlocked with solid 14k wire. Maybe I’ll sell her. Prolly I won’t.

A knotted vine of sparkling garnet and silk thread carry a wee carved amethyst vessel. 💜💜💜
(This was a gift for my sister and is not available. I’ve been swallowed by life the past few weeks, but am trying to steal time at the bench soon. I have quite a bit of work amassed to share though! I’d say it’s high time for a shop drop!!)
