Today I got to tell the story of how I named the shop a few times. I thought I would post it here!

Growing up my Grandma Dennis was an amazing artist. She inspired and encouraged me. She let me use her good markers. She took me with her to art classes. She taught me neat techniques and taught me more than I think she realized.

As a kiddo, I remember riding shotgun with her driving. She’d play 50’s music and I remember knowing every word to The Big Bopper’s Chantilly Lace because of those drives.

Chantilly Lace had a pretty face, ponytail hanging down. A wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk that makes the world go round.

A stay is a stiff garment that is similar to corsets and the idea of a soft lace and a stiff stay appealed to me. Both soft and hard. Frilly and straight. Gentle and stern.

Thus was born, Chantilly Stay.
