A lovely shadow band inspired by constellations ✨ We worked with diamonds from pieces of Alana’s most loved ones to turn into a wedding band to sit next to her engagement ring, also a family heirloom! Subtle details make all the difference to me, my favorite here was changing the prong count on each stone, so each gold prong dances and sparkles a bit differently 💛

I took Becky’s mom’s ring, north/south set marquise diamonds, and did a full reset- east/west for an up to date band. Becky asked me to reuse the gold from her dad’s wedding band and problem solving began. How to actually keep the original gold and make it wearable in a smaller ring size? I cut the ring right down the middle to act as “borders” to the marquise band. I am happy to say as much of the original hand engraving on the inside of the ring was left untouched and remains. Polished and resized like new, a stack with room to grow and add to! ✨

I look at jewelry and clothes in a really similar way- I look to preserve as much of their original design as possible, but I also think it’s important to recognize when an item starts to lose its use and purpose. We have to reassess when a garment or jewelry piece can become too outdated and therefore less wearable. This stack is a perfect example of the answer to this question being circumstantial. One preserved as much as possible, one fully reset. The goal is achieved- keeping sentiment and wearability in tact, an honor to be trusted with the task at hand ☺️
