I can relate.

Some people bring you flowers. Some people bring you a rock they found in a creek.

You got a rockhound in your life, or are you the one everybody's always waiting on?

There's something pretty wonderful about a person who can find that much joy in something lying on the ground. They'll be halfway through a conversation, spot something interesting, and suddenly they're down on one knee digging through the gravel. You might not understand what makes that particular rock so special, but you'll probably get to hear all about it on the drive home. And if they hand you one, you might want to keep it. They saw something beautiful and thought of you.

I'm one of those people. I've come home with rocks in my pockets, rocks rolling around in the truck, and a few that I honestly can't remember where the hell I found them. I've spent more time than I care to admit looking at creek beds when I was supposed to be doing something else. And every now and then, you find a little fossil or a shell where you never expected one, and the whole afternoon gets a little more interesting.
