I have lept into the world of fiber arts & I'm having too much fun with it! I alternate between crocheting & knitting. I used to think jewelry making is slow, but this craft is way more time intensive, though I don't mind. So far, I've made headbands & a hat. Eventually, I'd like to branch out into larger, more complex projects.
I'm reminding myself to savor the present moment, find gratitude & contentment in it, without always chasing the next, greatest thing, or in this case a *shiny* new project to complete. I'm not there yet, but I'm willing to gently redirect myself each time I find myself jumping into the future in my head - it's a daily practice.
It has been way too hot & humid to spend any considerable time outdoors, so working on different projects has been keeping me busy. I'm looking forward to a drop in temps hopefully soon, so I can go hikingπΆββοΈ, which is another favorite pass time.
Since starting essentially fabric making, I haven't been able to look at a sweater or scarf with indifference again. Something in my brain unlocked & now I'm hyper aware & noticing the different stitches & patterns on clothing & accessories.
Fun fact: While there are knitting machines that can replicate knitted garments, there is currently no machine that can copy crocheted items! Typically, if something is marketed as crocheted, yet the price doesn't nearly reflect how much time crochet work takes, the item has likely been machine knitted & is being falsely advertised as crochet - it happens quite often!
I'm looking forward to exploring different designs, material & different color yarn. The world π is one's oyster π
Btw, which fruit is a fave of yours this season? This season I'm finding myself obsessing over watermelon π. Did you know that the rind is edible? You can peel off the outer, dark green portion of it (finely chop it, add oil & herbs & make a delicious spread), or use the lighter green part, cube it & add it to salads & stir fries, make jam & sauces, or pickle both parts of the rind.
I hope you're enjoying your summer & finding time to unwind from the daily grind.
