Unlike its famous siblings, the Luminors and Marinas, the Mare Nostrum boasts a unique identity of its own. With a 42mm case that pays homage to the classic Panerai style, this chronograph is a true gem. Its design, lovingly recreated from the surviving drawings of the 1966 Florence flood, is identified as Ref. 5218-301/A – a true testament to its historical significance.
Equipped with the reliable ETA 2801 movement and a Dubois-Depraz module, this timepiece means business. Two sub-dials, two pushers, and a robust case make it the perfect companion for deck officers and stylish adventurers alike. While the serial numbers may suggest a larger production, it is believed that fewer than 500 of these extraordinary watches were actually crafted, including all the mesmerizing variants.
