Before and After of the week! This vintage gold nugget wedding set came in with a missing stone and a broken shank. Upon inspection, it was determined that the stone loss was caused by worn tips. We ordered a new stone, retipped all the stones in the center, repaired the broken band, and soldered the rings together. With loving care and close attention to detail, we have this cool vintage wedding set repaired and shined up so it looks just like it did when it was new!

The Jewelry Professor is located in Cedar Crest, NM. We are in the same plaza as Triangle Grocery and Trail Rider Pizza. Open Wednesday through Friday from 12-5 and Saturday from 10-2. Hope to see you soon!

Before and After Time! Did you know that we repair Sterling Silverware? These pieces were broken in transit at some point, and our client wanted to keep their set complete. There are some limitations to what can be done with broken silverware, but we are always up for a challenge! Several hours at the laser welder and Marco has these pieces looking almost like new!

Check out this statement ring!!! With its contemporary take on vintage Southwest design, this is a Harley McDaniel original through and through. Featuring an incredible Kings Manassa turquoise that displays a gorgeous natural matrix, every single detail is crafted entirely by hand! Fabricated in Sterling silver, the scalloped borders and intricate wire coils, and the polished silver spheres frame the stone like traditional vintage Southwestern jewelry, yet it's an entirely contemporary, one-of-a-kind piece! Swipe through to see the profile view and the detailed craftsmanship on the back!

This stunner of a ring was claimed before I even finished it! So sorry it is not available for sale!

Check out these amazing Old Pawn Era, Vintage Southwestern Squash Blossoms and Concho Belt. Old Pawn is a term used in the industry to refer to the Golden Era of Southwest Style Jewelry, handmade from the late 1870’s to the 1950’s. These pieces were not made for the tourist market out of thin sheet but have the weight, craftsmanship, and style of hand-hammered silver, designed to be worn within the community. The Concho Belt is a full pound of silver!

These are rare articles, and folks don’t get a chance to purchase museum-quality jewelry like this often. We will have one piece on display at a time in our shop. However, if you would like to view this entire collection, you will need to make an appointment! These pieces are available for sale to out-of-state buyers. Message me for more information!

Before and After of the Week! This ring came in dull and worn from many years of loving wear. Our client came in hoping to polish it up and make sure the stones were secure. Upon inspection, we found the stones were safe and we noticed there was once a texture highlighting the channels that secure these dazzling diamonds. Our team carefully restored the original texture and finish. Now this ring looks as good as it did the day they bought it!

Before and After of the Week! How cool is this one? Our client came in with a vision of a different ring than the one she had been wearing. She wanted a ring where this beautiful stone would sit lower but didn't want a new ring. Of course at TJP we love a design challenge and this was a fun one.

Utilizing only the existing gold in the ring (with the exception of replacing the head the stone is set in) We cut, bent, stretch and shaped the original claw prongs into a split shank wrap around design.

This was also a craft challenge we loved to take on. First we had to cut out the bridge from the original design and carefully remove the old head/setting. Next we cut a deeper split in the existing split shank, then formed the old claw prongs into the open shank eyeball shape, ensuring it was a perfect fit around the new head that we chose because it could sit lower in the ring. We soldered in the head, polished everything up and set the stone.

We love the way this ring finished out. Our team is always up to the challenge!
