Could you tell the difference between a natural Earth mined diamond versus a laboratory grown man made (created) diamond? The answer is, no!The consuming public cannot tell the difference, and very few jewelers can. However, at Sam Edwards Jewelers we have undergone specialized training that enable us to identify the differences. Natural diamonds, created my Mother Nature, have gone through millions of years of high pressure and heat whereas Lab Diamonds are created by man by using a grain (seed plate) from a natural diamond to ‘jump start’ the process, which usually takes 2-3 weeks to achieve a cuttable crystal, whereas natural diamonds can take millions of years. As a value comparison, a 1 carat round natural diamond can sell for an average of $7,000 as compared to the Lab Grown diamond of the same weight at a mere $800.00, this due the mass quantities being produced versus Mother Nature, who only gives up a limited number each year.
