Sofia Björkman is one of the four Swedish artists featured in our current exhibition, Mystic Meadows. Each of her pieces are one-of-a-kind and created with a custom-made, 3D drawing tool. Björkman uses PLA filament, a bioplastic derived from renewable biomass that she melts and then makes light-as-air, wearable drawings. Sofia draws each piece by hand and believes these pieces should not be mistaken for digital technology.⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠

Karin Roy Andersson is originally from Umeå, Sweden which is also home to the Sámi tribe, Europe’s only recognized Indigenous people. Reindeer herding is an important part of Sámi culture, and both the animals and their keepers are strongly affected by the pressures of modern society. Karin’s practice utilizes lessons from the reindeer herders such as using local resources, managing materials efficiently, minimizing waste, and protecting animals and nature. In addition to working as an artist, Sofia Björkman is also a curator and gallery owner! Based in Stockholm, Sofia is the owner of PLATINA, an art jewelry gallery and studio. Her body of work featured in our exhibition, Mystic Meadows, is titled Landscapes. The series can be seen as three-dimensional objects that move between jewelry and body-related works, drawings and paintings.⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠
