Stewart devotes her artistic passion to creating leather and wood wall assemblages and sculptural body ornamentation. She is also known for her pastel and acrylic paintings, pencil drawings, electronic photo reconstruction and graphic designs. These greeting cards are ultimately framed works of art.

P.J. Stewart is a graduate of the College of Communications from Southern Illinois University. She furthered her studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the International School of Art and Design in Miami, Florida, and the Savanna School of Art and Design in the state of Georgia. Stewart received her master’s degree from Chicago State University in Educational Administration and Supervision. She is a retired secondary education art teacher; art curriculum developer; lead teacher; curriculum coach; and graphic artist for the Chicago Public Schools. She is a practicing graphic artist, a costume designer, a set designer, and was curator for numerous high school art exhibitions. Stewart has been a member of the Artisans 21 Gallery, Society of Women in the Arts, National Arts in Education, Illinois Arts Council, Sapphire and Crystals, Women Made Gallery, Society of Pastel Artists., Board of Directors for the South Side Community Art Center, Education Consultant for eta Creative Arts Foundation, Lead Teacher for the C.P.S. Museums and Public Schools, Consultant for the Kraft Arts in Education Initiative Program, and teaching artist for the 20 Neighborhoods Project at Women Made Gallery. The art of PJStewart has received numerous awards from various institutions throughout Chicago land: DuSable Museum, Illinois Service Federal, South Commons Artist’s Association, Englewood Arts Council, Beverly Arts Center, Chatham Community, South Shore Cultural Center, Lake Meadows, and the Hyde Park Community. Her paintings, sculptures, and jewelry have been exhibited at the Neleh Artistic Expressions, Susan Woodson Gallery, Africa International House, D’Estee, The Marwin Foundation, Gallery 37, African American Cultural Center at the University of Illinois Chicago, Black Arts Groups International, South Side Community Arts Center, Special Things Gallery, Chicago Public Schools, Art Institute of Chicago, Southern Illinois University, Chicago Cultural Center, South Shore Cultural Center, Chicago Public Schools, The Daley Center, DuSable Museum, Chicago State University, the Wood Shop Gallery, Safari Market Place, and RAW (Real Art Works), Noyes Cultural Arts Center, Sapphire and Crystals, Up Lift Chicago, Senior Artists Network, Woman Made Gallery, and in many personal collections nationwide.
