Thanks so much to Sasha-Ann Simons and In the Loop for letting me sing it loud and proud for small businesses. Each and every one of us has been affected by the world at large, and I’m grateful for folks who recognize the efforts it takes to keep it going.

Headed to our favorite family’s downtown spot at for what can only be described as we-will-never-need-to-eat-again. Fantastic as always and their pastry team is fire.

Finished up back at the Art Institute at the scene of one of my favorite photos ever. I’ve only got the kid for the week so, let’s goooooo.

Today was a pretty great day off from Virtu. I’ll be back at it again, all week long. Come on by and say hi. I’d love to see you. 💙

Well that was fun! Thanks so much to and all of you who voted Virtu the Best Place to Transform Your Home at last night’s Legacy Awards. It was such a great evening of celebrating the longevity of the livelihoods of community standouts like , , , and more. I even got to accept an award on behalf of the brothers Poilevey when was voted Best Place for a First Date so, naturally, Krista and I had to deliver directly to Le Bouchon afterwards. Nothing like escargot + frites staff meetings.

Bucktown means everything to me as a longtime resident and business owner. Thank you for loving what we do around here. It says it on the window, our pens, stickers and totes , and we couldn’t be Virtu without you.

I got to have Mother’s Day, my own way, today. All in honor of my mom.

Fun fact when I was in elementary school, she created a program called “Art Goes to School” so she could teach kids art history. Her favorite pieces were Matisse’s Jazz and I still have her book from 1974. I learned today that my mom taught about color and line and freely flowing forms, but she never really taught us the true meaning of Jazz. Today I learned the unsanitized version and am more enamored than ever.

Do yourself a favor. Go see Matisse’s Jazz at the Art Institute before it leaves in early June. It’s more timely than ever. And then go to a garden or buy yourself a plant. 🦋🌸🌿
