This is finally complete!! In August I installed my finished mural in Grove City after being in my art studio for two months painting on panels. There was a product failure of the sealant which left a horrible rubber cement texture on the surface. Sherwin Williams stood by their product and paid me to repaint the entire mural It was a difficult task as I worked in the cold after my conventional season would have ended. It has been done since late November but we had to wait till the temp was above 50• for install. We finished it this past Thursday.
The content came from a photograph of the oldest home in southwest Franklin county and the historic story is fascinating.

My husband is amazing! Weeks ago he planned to surprise me on Christmas morning with my logo embroidered on the back of jackets, one denim and two all weather coats, one for him and one for me. And baseball caps. I could not be more thrilled!!! He’s a keeper! (Especially after 50 years!)

When I received the call from Vinton county to paint this mural I couldn’t have been more thrilled. Maude Collins was the first woman sheriff in Ohio. She solved a double murder after being appointed to serve out her husbands term after he was killed in office. She was so efficient she went on to defeat several men in the election making her the first ELECTED woman sheriff. After research I believe she may have been the second in the United States. This was only five years after women won the right to vote

This has been a unique week in Ripley, Ohio. I finished my mural today but it was only part of the excitement. The night before last a truck came thru towing a deck from a double wide mobile home and hit my mobile art studio, knocking it onto the curb then left the scene. Gary spent a half a day dealing with all the insurance and sheriff reports (thank god, I wouldn’t have had time). There were several eyewitnesses who of course knew him as well a cct photos of the event.
When we arrived this am I found a lot of debris of sharp chunks of stone near the same trailer. It was from about four stories up where a stone lintel had fallen as well as some bricks. A few feet nearer it would have pierced the roof. That doesn’t even count the incredible heat from the asphalt and concrete sidewalks. Not to mention, some old biddy contacted my client accusing the photographer of taking pictures up my skirt while on my lift. Just for everyone’s information, I don’t wear skirts but mid thigh shorts. MYOB lady!! I think they are out to get me!! Ha!!
All in all a very fun project and a precious time meeting new friends. I will post the final project tomorrow after we move the lift.

We started a new mural in Ripley, Ohio down by the Ohio River. The focus will be on a sternwheeler paddle boat, to***co and the abolitionist John Rankin with a portrait and his home at the top of Liberty Stairway. If you don’t know his story, look it up. It is amazing! This is partially paid for by an Ohio Arts Council grant. Many thanks to them!

This project was a little different for me. I started in February on 4x8 panels pvc signboard mounted on frames built in our living room by my husband. We have a rustic house with old log cabin post and beams so he screwed right to the beams. I painted on panels thru February and March and finally installed yesterday This was a little difficult as I couldn’t see the entire mural at one time, only individual panels.
Hocking hills postcard style and the name of her business, Rock House Cafe.

I was very excited to be awarded the “Pineapple award” from our local Convention and Visitors bureau. It deals with hospitality and promoting tourism. It was specifically for the Frankfort and Bainbridge murals. We are an historic area having been a hub for prehistoric indigenous people. There were 4 awards from a group of 33 nominees. I am delighted to be included in such a prestigious group!!
