.jewelry_ and I made this window pane cut sapphire and 14k ring as custom job, that also served as a lesson on old school wax carving. Before she started carving this ring I warned her that in every single wax carving job there is a point when you want to throw the wax into the garbage. It is important to push through and keep carving. This piece was no exception. Sure it was me who picked the wax up out of the pile of punishment ( a place where pieces must go when they don’t don’t behave, and have to sit think about what they have done wrong, aka the garbage pile) and finished it, but the thing is, what makes this design so really really darn cool is that this piece started with .jewelry_ then with me and refining that design and in doing it this way it made something of beauty that neither of us would have done on our own. I love this, because let’s face it, most of my stuff is just, as puts it, “girlie swirlies” and this is more like fantasy magical elven lore vibe. The moral? Push on through and “get ‘er done.”
