I know this can be a controversial topic, so I’d love to hear from both shoppers and makers.

When you attend a market that’s advertised as being “for makers,” what do you expect that to mean?

If you’re a customer, does it matter to you whether the person selling the product actually made it?

If you’re a maker, where do you think the line should be drawn?

From my experience, I’m talking about businesses that are literally just buying premade jewelry and putting a handmade tag on it. They are in no way involved in the designing process.

This isn’t your typical meet the maker post, it’s also a little piece of my story.

Now that I’m not in the shop every day, there are so many new faces who don’t know me yet or what this place really means to me. They don’t know that I hand make every piece, or how this shop even came to be.

And while I’m so grateful I get to be home more with my kids and trust that the shop keeps going with me just popping in when needed, I’d be lying if I said I don’t miss that connection with my customers.

So here’s my little ‘Meet the Maker’ post to share my story, the short one. Even if I’m not the one you see in the shop all the time anymore, I’m still here. Made by Adelaide is still me. 💚

I’ve been very busy these past few months so the May Collection hasn’t made its debut just yet.. It is coming… just fashionably late. 😅
