Before we talk about the setting, we like to talk about the diamond.

A grading report gives you important information, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

When we're helping a client choose a center stone, we want to see how that diamond actually looks. How does it perform in the light? How does it look to the eye? Does it work with the design you're imagining?
Those details matter.

Our job isn't to put the biggest diamond in the ring. It's to help you find the right stone for the design, your budget, and the person you're buying it for.

Carat is one of the 4Cs, but bigger isn’t always better.

Carat refers to a diamond’s weight, not how much it sparkles or how large it appears. A well-cut diamond can have more presence and brilliance than a heavier stone with poor proportions.

When we help a client choose a diamond, we look at all four Cs together: cut, color, clarity, and carat. The goal is to find the right balance for the stone, the design, and the person wearing it.

A little diamond clarity challenge. 👀

I’ve put three diamonds in the photos. They have different clarity grades.

Can you spot the differences?

Clarity is one of the 4Cs, and it’s probably the one I see misunderstood most often...

Natural diamonds usually have small inclusions that formed as the diamond formed under ground. Many are only visible under magnification and have little to no effect on what you actually see when wearing the diamond.

That’s why I don’t choose a diamond based on the clarity grade alone.

I look at the diamond itself:
How it looks to the eye.
Where the inclusions are.
How it works with the setting.

A higher clarity grade isn’t automatically a better-looking diamond...

Sometimes an SI1 looks just as clean as a VS2. Sometimes the VS2 is worth the difference. It depends on the individual diamond.
The goal is to find the diamond where the grade, appearance, design, and price all make sense together.

Color is one of the 4Cs, but a diamond doesn’t have to be perfectly colorless to be beautiful.

Some of our favorite diamonds have a subtle warmth to them. Once they're set, the difference can be surprisingly hard to see, especially with the right metal and design.

When we help a client choose a diamond, we look at the whole picture: the stone, the setting, the metal, the budget, and most importantly, what feels right for them.

✨ The most important "C" isn't always the one people expect.

Many people focus on carat first, but cut is what gives a diamond its incredible sparkle.
A beautifully cut diamond can shine brighter than a larger one with a poor cut.
The best diamond isn't simply the biggest; it's the one that reflects your story and shines for a lifetime.

Okay I have to show off our engraver’s work for a second.

Every bit of this scrollwork is done by hand- no machines, no lasers, just an insane amount of skill and patience. Swipe through… there’s a tiny rabbit hidden in one of these, see if you can find it.

This is why I love working with custom pieces. You just don’t get this level of detail any other way.
