Chain Coral Ring

Made this cute little ring from a beach rock I found in Michigan!

Chain coral is a fossilized colonial coral (most commonly Halysites) that lived around 430 million years ago. It's nicknamed "chain coral" because the tiny coral tubes grew in linked, chain-like patterns that are beautifully preserved in the stone.

Ruck's Pit is a locality in Florida famous for its ancient clam & shell fossils. In some pieces, calcite crystals formed inside the fossils - and as you can see here - they glow under UV light!
