We’re switching back to “school hours” after this weekend, which means only open Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4 after this one!
That being said…. We really appreciate the support and repeat customers we’ve had! In the next year we will resume more days a week as one of us will focus more on this business.
One thing that’s a bit unique here is that the material we cut, polish and sell is all ethically sourced.
What does that mean?
Well first, it means that we only sell what’s legal to collect and sell. Most people don’t realize it’s not legal to collect and sell items found on public lands, be it state or federal. This means Agates, jaspers, shells, wood etc, unless one has a permit. However currently the OSPD does not have any active sellers permits for these items on the beaches. The fines for either over collecting, like beach items it’s only 1 gallon a day or 3 gallons in a year, can be into the $1000’s. For materials like obsidian, opal and the like it can be 5x that amount. If you’ve been to some of the popular rock collecting areas you’ll see the damage done by unscrupulous rock hounds looking at just turning a profit by selling what they’ve collected.
As we’ve transitioned over the last year or so, we’ve been cutting our own materials and then either setting them in house or having our good friend do our larger projects when we need to have dozens done at a single time.
