PART TWO:
I love learning about our Lake Erie beach glass!
One interesting thing to look for, to determine if glass is authentic or fake are the words "SURF tumbled." At flea markets and on-line you may see glass advertised as "tumbled" glass." This means it was tumbled in a machine, and it's probably from broken bottles, etc. At a glance it may look real.
Another interesting & important feature to look for are "C's" on the surface. This frosted, matte appearance is caused by hydration, or wave action, of the lake. Under magnification this roughened area actually looks like letter C's.
In my photo, can you see the roughed surface on this piece of glass?
Let me know if you see the hydration marks!
