Gorgeous Custom Pendant!!🤩

A customer had a wedding set she'd inherited from her father's side of the family. The ring wasn't her style and she typically preferred round shaped diamonds so she was unsure what to do with the marquise shaped stone as she didn't love it but it was a shame to have it sitting in her jewelry box..

She came in and we discussed some ideas...setting the marquise into a pendant and maybe setting it sideways for a more modern look. We browsed necklaces in our showcase and we both sighted a lovely pear shaped amethyst pendant. She loved the sleek look with the amethyst bezel set and with the diamond accent, she could use the smaller diamonds from her rings. We suggested using 3 diamonds to add some size to the overall pendant as she preferred more statement pieces and the size of the marquise could accommodate some extra sparkle! From there, we also discussed how everything would be assembled. Our stock pendant had a slight dangle to it as the amethyst was suspended from a small jump ring attached to the diamond accent...allowing for the amethyst to swivel slightly and catch the light while being worn. We mimicked this style for her pendant...using small, discreet jump rings to attach and connect her 3 small diamonds and marquise stone!

The finished pendant turned out absolutely lovely and brought a whole new look to her beautiful marquise stone!

June is here....the month we welcome sunshine, warm waters and three gorgeous birth gems! From the glow of Pearls and Moonstone to the color-changing Alexandrite, this month has something for everyone!

Pearls are perhaps the best loved gem of all time. They occur in a variety of colors, the most common being white and cream. The spherical shape of pearls led many cultures to associate this gem with the moon and were believed to guarantee protection from fire.

Another glowing stone is the Moonstone. Moonstone's namesake comes from a city in Switzerland, with one of the first sources being Mt. Adular. The stone shows an unearthly glow of light billowing across it known as adularescence. This effect is due to the stone's internal structure...light falls between the stone's thin layers and is scattered....producing a billowing light. It's no wonder moonstone was extremely popular in custom jewelry during the romantic Art Nouveau era. Its soft look is beautiful yet feminine.

Last but certainly not least is the more colorful option: Alexandrite. This very rare gem exhibits its own magic trick - color change. Alexandrite appears green in sunlight yet red in lamplight. Deposits of Alexandrite were first discovered in 1830 in Russia's Ural mountains. The stone is the namesake of Czar Alexander ll. Aside from being a birth gem, Alexandrite is also the stone for 55th wedding anniversaries.

So next time someone says they don't know what to get you for your birthday, tell them they have three very distinct options to select!

Custom nature inspired ring ✨️

A sweet customer had the diamonds from her mom's original engagement and wedding rings that her father had presented to her mom many years ago 💞

She wanted to put the stones into a ring for herself but wanted the ring to truly be unique and reflect her own style! She came in with some inspiration pictures she'd found online...she specifically loved nature inspired rings with a freeform, natural design.

One of her pictures showed 2 rings resembling deer antlers with a larger stone in the center. We studied the picture and discussed what she liked and didn't like with the design. Specifically, instead of 2 rings she wanted one wider band and also wanted to keep the main stone set low for a right hand ring, not wanting it to resemble an engagement ring. From there, we created CAD images showing her small stones set within the sides of the band and the larger one in the center.

After viewing the CADS, even though the small diamonds were sentimental, she decided she didn't really want to use the small stones as it took away from the overall design. We made the changes and new CADS were produced and she loved the new design!

It was love at first sight when she saw the finished ring! The high polished, all metal design made her center stone pop and is versatile that she can wear it everyday with her other jewelry! 🥰
