Gold holds near $4,382.38 as Treasury yields return to 5%.

Spot gold rose 0.85% late Friday, while silver gained 1.58% to $66.13. Lower oil prices helped both metals maintain weekly gains, offsetting part of the pressure from a firmer U.S. dollar and the 10-year Treasury yield’s rise to 5.00%.

Gold tested the $4,400 area, but still needs a sustained break above $4,396.15 and then $4,405.59 for a cleaner technical breakout. Futures markets were pricing a 58% chance of another Fed rate increase in October.
