π£ Today is an average day for fishing because nothing is really screaming βhot bite,β but itβs not a total skunk flag either.
π The moon is in a waning gibbous phase, heading toward the last quarter on June 8, so we are past that stronger full-moon pull. That usually means the bite can still happen, but the feeding windows are not as fired up as they were around the full moon.
π The surf and weather are also keeping things in the βaverageβ bucket. Port Aransas is cloudy with thunderstorm chances through parts of the day, and storms can shut down the bite fast with lightning, pressure changes, and gusty wind.
π¨ Marine conditions are not terrible, but they are not perfect glassy spoon-throwing water either. The Coastal Bend marine forecast shows southeast winds around 15 to 20 knots with seas around 4 to 5 feet, occasionally to 6 feet, which can make surf fishing tougher and dirty up the guts.
π Bottom line: fish are still catchable today, but youβll need to work for them. Fish the better solunar windows, look for cleaner cuts in the surf, use bait if the water is sandy, and be ready to pop out that gold spoon if the water has that coffee-with-cream look.
