🎣 Today is an average day for fishing because nothing is really screaming β€œhot bite,” but it’s not a total skunk flag either.

πŸŒ™ The moon is in a waning gibbous phase, heading toward the last quarter on June 8, so we are past that stronger full-moon pull. That usually means the bite can still happen, but the feeding windows are not as fired up as they were around the full moon.

🌊 The surf and weather are also keeping things in the β€œaverage” bucket. Port Aransas is cloudy with thunderstorm chances through parts of the day, and storms can shut down the bite fast with lightning, pressure changes, and gusty wind.

πŸ’¨ Marine conditions are not terrible, but they are not perfect glassy spoon-throwing water either. The Coastal Bend marine forecast shows southeast winds around 15 to 20 knots with seas around 4 to 5 feet, occasionally to 6 feet, which can make surf fishing tougher and dirty up the guts.

🐟 Bottom line: fish are still catchable today, but you’ll need to work for them. Fish the better solunar windows, look for cleaner cuts in the surf, use bait if the water is sandy, and be ready to pop out that gold spoon if the water has that coffee-with-cream look.

🌊 Port Aransas Weather & Sea Report afternoon update

Looking at the Port Aransas north and south jetties, the surf is starting to get a little rougher out there. Just south of Horace Caldwell Pier, the water is showing more chop with lines of whitewater working through the guts.

It is not blown out, but it is getting bouncy enough to make surf fishing a little more work. Expect tougher casting, more current, and a little more seaweed movement along the beach.

🎣 Beach Bum Tip: Fish closer, use enough weight to hold bottom, and watch those cuts and current breaks.

🌊 Beach Update

Today will be a little rougher out there than yesterday. Seas will run around 2 to 3 feet, with east winds blowing 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to 23 mph.

🌬️ It will be warm, humid, and sticky, with a chance of those afternoon thunderbangers rumbling around, so keep one eye on the sky and don’t play games with lightning.

πŸ–οΈ Rip current risk is low for now, but expect that to change tonight as it moves up to a moderate rip current risk.

🌿 Seaweed is still an issue on area beaches, and water clarity is not looking too pretty today. If you’re fishing, think tougher baits, heavier weights, and don’t be afraid to throw something with a little extra flash or scent.

🎣 Beach Bum Rule: Rougher surf, dirty water, and seaweed means you’ve got to fish smarter, not prettier.

🦐 Salted shrimp is a saltwater fishing cheat code because it stays on the hook better and still smells like dinner to fish.

🌊 Why use it? Salt pulls moisture out of the shrimp, making it tougher. That means it does not fly off as easily when you cast, and small bait thieves have a harder time stripping your hook clean.

🎣 Best reasons to use salted shrimp:

πŸ§‚ Stays on the hook longer
Great for surf fishing where waves, current, and hard casts beat up soft bait.

🐟 Still has scent
Salted shrimp keeps enough smell to attract whiting, pompano, black drum, redfish, croaker, and sheepshead.

🧊 Lasts longer than fresh shrimp
You can keep it in a bag or container in the cooler without it turning into beach pudding.

πŸ’° Saves money
Instead of tossing old shrimp, salt it down and use it later.

🌬️ Good in rough surf
When the water is moving and bait won’t stay put, salted shrimp is tougher than regular dead shrimp.

πŸ–οΈ Beach Bum tip: Peel the shrimp first, cut it into small chunks, pack it heavy with non-iodized salt or kosher salt, and let it firm up overnight. For pompano and whiting, use small pieces. For black drum or redfish, use bigger chunks.

Beach Bum rule: Fresh shrimp gets bites. Salted shrimp survives the cast.

Fish Pass jetties has been productive for redfish - trout and flounder along the rocks on mullet - silver spoons and live shrimp. Indian Point pier great for Black Drum on fresh cut crab. Cosway and Red Dot pier for Black Drum evening hours and redfish in the channel. Cole Park pier good for sand trout after dark on fresh shrimp and a few Black Drum on fresh shrimp and crab.
──────────────────────────────
🌊 Packery Channel / 361 bridge area

Flounder have been very active near the bridge and can be caught on live shrimp and small jigs. Redfish and trout have also been active early morning hours and again near sunset on mullet - croaker and live shrimp. Paddletails and small silver spoons have also worked well. Jack Crevalle - redfish and trout on the jetties on live baits - silver spoons and paddletails.
──────────────────────────────
🌊 Padre Island National Seashore

Past the 15 beach marker has seen schools of Jack Crevalle hitting anchovies just past the second gut. Use live baits or large silver spoons. Redfish have been in the guts early morning hours on points - cuts and washouts. Speckled trout have been good early morning hours on live shrimp - silver spoons and paddle tails. Black drum in the wash on fishbites - cut crab and fresh shrimp. A few Pompano have been caught down past the 20 marker.
──────────────────────────────
🌬 Laguna Madre
Trout are being caught around grass edges, deeper potholes, channel drops, and 3 to 5 feet of water. Soft plastics, paddle tails, croaker, and live shrimp are all good choices right now. Early morning and late evening are best when the water is calm and clean.
──────────────────────────────
βš“ Port Aransas

The south jetty has been hot this week for Jack Crevalle at the ends on cut baits and large spoons. Bull redfish are still schooling around the tips of the jetties and Spanish Mackerel on those clean water days around the middle of the jetty. Trout have been on the surf side just past the third gut on silver spoons - paddletails and live shrimp. Mangrove snapper and flounder along the rocks on fresh shrimp and live shrimp.
──────────────────────────────
🎑 Bob Hall Pier

Whiting - redfish - pompano - jack crevalle - Black Drum - large sharks are all being caught off the pier early morning to late afternoon on live baits - cut baits - silver spoons and fishbites. Large Bull shark was just caught off the end of the pier this week.

πŸŒ— Last Quarter – June 8 (5:00 AM)
Dark skies for stargazing.
Fishing: Falling tides can create predictable surf action.

Fishing: Predators feed longer at night. Trout and Redfish cruise the troughs.

πŸŒ‘ New Moon – Jun 14 (9:54 PM)

Fishing: Strong tidal swings = excellent bite windows, especially dawn and dusk.

πŸŒ“ First Quarter – Today (6:11 AM)

〰️ Port Aransas: ::::: | High: 9:38 AM
〰️ Mustang Island: ::::: | High: 9:35 AM
〰️ Corpus Christi : ::::: | High: 9:24 AM

The tidal coefficient will be 57, which is average. That means the tide should have moderate water movement, not screaming like a runaway bait bucket, but not dead flat either. Fishing can still be solid, but you’ll want to focus on the best bite windows and areas where moving water gets squeezed.

〰️ Corpus Christi : 12:20 AM | High: 9:56 AM

The tidal coefficient will be 53, which means we’re looking at an average tide movement day. That usually means the water won’t be ripping like a runaway beach cart, but it also won’t be completely lazy. Fish can still bite, but you’ll want to focus on the best water, not just any pretty wave.

06/04/2026

🌊 Today is a bad day for fishing because the bite windows are weak and the conditions are acting like a wet flip-flop in a tackle box.

πŸŒ™ The biggest reason is the solunar activity is poor overall. Both major feeding windows are only showing average activity, and both minor windows are showing low activity. That means the moon is not giving fish a strong β€œgo eat everything” signal today.

🎣 Major periods:
3:41 AM to 5:41 AM, average activity
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, average activity

🐟 Minor periods:
9:28 AM to 10:28 AM, low activity
11:32 PM to 12:32 AM, low activity

☁️ Weather is not helping much either. Cloud cover, possible storms, and changing beach conditions can make the bite even more stubborn.

πŸ–οΈ So the Beach Bum breakdown is simple: weak solunar pull, low minor periods, average major windows, and touchy weather make today a bad day for fishing.

⚠️ Best advice: fish the 4 PM to 6 PM window only if the weather behaves. Keep it simple with live shrimp, mullet, or spoons.

β›ˆοΈ Beach Afternoon Update β›ˆοΈ

Pretty good thunderstorms are popping up just offshore this afternoon. Expect occasional lightning, brief heavy rain, and some sudden gusty winds as these storms move around the coast.

⚑ Lightning can strike well away from the main storm, so if you hear thunder, it's a good idea to get off the beach and out of the water until conditions improve.

πŸ’¨ Winds may quickly increase near any storm cell, creating choppy surf and blowing sand along the beach.

🌊 Outside of the storms, conditions remain fishable, but keep one eye on the sky and another on the radar. These summertime pop-up storms can sneak up on you faster than a hungry jack crevalle chasing a spoon.

🎣 Stay safe, stay dry, and don't let a fish report turn into a weather report.

πŸ”΅ Port Aransas β€’ San Jose Island Fishing Report

The Port Aransas south jetty has been hot this week, especially out toward the ends. Jack crevalle have been hammering cut bait and big spoons, while bull redfish are still schooling around the jetty tips.

On clean-water days, Spanish mackerel have been showing up around the middle of the jetty. Throw small spoons, Got-Cha plugs, or fast-moving shiny baits when that water clears up and starts looking fishy.

The surf side just past the third gut has been producing speckled trout on silver spoons, paddle tails, and live shrimp. Along the rocks, mangrove snapper and flounder have been biting on fresh shrimp and live shrimp.

Both the north and south jetties, from the middle sections to the ends, have been good for slot-size flounder on small jigs and live shrimp. A few sheepshead are still hanging tight to the rocks and can be caught on live shrimp.

The channel side has been good for black drum on fresh shrimp and cut crab.

At night, Robert’s Point Pier and Charlie’s Pasture Pier have still been producing black drum, gafftop, big croaker, and small sharks on cut bait, fresh shrimp, and crab.

The flats around Port Aransas and across the ferry toward Aransas Pass have been good for flounder gigging, especially with the lighter nighttime winds.

Over on San Jose Island, the surf has been good early in the morning for slot redfish and trout on live bait and one-ounce silver spoons. A few pompano are still hanging around when the water clarity is good.

At the north jetty tips, bull redfish have been schooling, and a few kingfish have been spotted cruising the area.

Beach Bum Bottom Line:
Clean water means throw silver. Dirty water means slow it down near the rocks with shrimp, crab, or cut bait. The jetty ends are holding the bigger troublemakers, so bring strong line, good hooks, and a drop net unless you enjoy telling stories about the one that floated away.
