1970s Heuer Autavia 11630 Mark 2. Came to me after not seeing a service in its 50+ year lifetime. Parts were seized, gaskets were disintegrated, hands were stuck to all the pinions, etc. After a lot of work this baby is ready for daily use again. Soooo happy to help this customer out with this show stopper Heuer. A Heuer Cal 14 is housed inside with a 3 register chronograph, a microrotor automatic, GMT, and date. The swiss army knife of movements. Going back to its excited owner 😍😍😍😍

Fresh from the spa treatment! A 50+ year old Heuer Cal 14 Automatic (yes automatic!) in NOS condition. Starved of oil with parts seized together, it is now essentially brand new after service. The Heuer 14 is basically the swiss army knife of movements. The movement contains a chronograph (hour, minutes, second), a microrotor automatic hidden beneath the chronograph, and, wait there's more, a GMT complication, and a date. Very cool and exceptionally unique movement, unlike any other chronograph. Beautiful and utilitarian 😍😍 heading back to its happy owner!

Universal Geneve Polerouter rescued! A customer sent me this non-running Universal Geneve Polerouter and I restored it back to life. It was abused multiple times by poor watchmaking and had a fair bit of corrosion on the microrotor, but now it's running like new again. Had to make a custom mainspring on this one as well. I absolutely love these watchea, one of my favorites of all times! Parts for these are now nearly impossible to source on a budget and watchmakers that are skilled enough to tackle these beauties are in short supply. So happy to help! Going back to its happy owner. 😍😍😍

Working on a Mido movement for a customer. It wasn't running... Hmm I wonder why? So much oil everywhere that sat and solidified and stopped the whole movement. Volume up for voiceover details 😭😭😭

Heuer Cal 14 I am currently working on. Wild microrotor reversing gear design I've never seen before. 2 large flat sapphire jewels hold a flosting gear in place to allow for the reversing rotor rotation. Very interesting design! Volume up for voiceover details!

What happens to your expensive bridges and plates when you hire the discount watchmaker. A very expensive Universal Geneve Tri-Compax train bridge with an absurd amount of deep gouges from watchmakers carelessly trying to pry off the bridge with a steel screwdriver. Sigh. Thankfully not visible when assembled but of course that is never an excuse to damage a movement.

Continuing the restoration process of this incredibly rare 1960s Favre-Leuba Bivouac 53203 (the first wrist watch with a barometer, which displays via center red hand).

I fully overhauled the movement and barometer, and now they're ready to install back in the case. Buuut how to set the barometer accurately?... The full movement with aneroid chamber must be installed into the case so the exact amount of pressure is applied to the mechanism that moves the red center hand radially. But that means the crystal needs to be installed so the dial can press against it and take the pressure from the expanding and contracting aneroid chamber. But how to install the hand with the crystal installed....

After trying a few ideas I came up with a solution--make a custom crystal with the center removed so the red center hand can be installed at the exact current pressure as displayed by another known-good baseline barometer--in this case 743.9 mm/Hg.

Memovox rescue mission! Abused for decades by watchmakers over their heads, this poor JLC Memovox w/cal k825 needed a lot of work. Hairspring was toast and had to be re-formed by hand, mainspring barrel and arbor were mismatched and had to be refinished to prevent arbor binding, alarm wheel carrier spring was installed upside-down and had spent years grinding away at the date driving wheel, canon pinion was so loose you could sneeze and it would fall off, balance end shake was excessive due to the old-timer watchmaker divot under the balance c**k mutilation technique, and on and on. Thankfully this watch still has an excellent patina on it's original dial so it was all worth it. Back to its best again and heading back to its owner.
