The tale of 2 LeCoultre's
About 6 months ago I stop to see a dealer/store owner friend of mine and he shows me a late VERY RARE 50's LeCoultre Deep Sea Alarm that he has had for nearly 50 years hanging out in the back of his safe. I of course have to have it so after a little back and fourth we make a deal. The Deep Sea Alarm was there answer to the Rolex and Blancpain dive watches and the first alarm rated to go under water, with approx only 950 made within a 2 year period these are extremely rare and hard to find! I post this watch here on FB and share it in a few close friend/watch collector groups gathering as much info as I can, but these are very rarely available on the market and over all hard to find which is how the second TALE of the this story comes in......
Fast forward about 2 months I get a dm here on FB saying that he found my name from a google search for rare LeCoultre watches, ( the Deep Sea Alarm I had previously posted ) He then goes on to ask if I would possibly be interested in purchasing another rare LeCoultre watch? Absolutely I say! A 1958 LeCoultre Geophysics, A 1 year only watch with a total of approx 1000 ever produced and this being the American version to which only 200 are believed to have been made! after about 2 weeks of negotiations and phone calls we make a deal and the watch lands here in Ohio. To have purchased both of these very rare watches in such a short time is still crazy to me and Im thankful for that!
I’ve been buying and selling rare watches for over 20 years, and I still love the thrill of finding these special pieces we all wish could tell their stories. The friendships and relationships I’ve built along the way have been just as rewarding as the watches themselves, and I’m always excited to see and hear about what others have discovered.
