She would have been happy with supergluing a larger diamond to her ring.
But he thought she deserved more.
More can be a beautiful thing...
It began when he stopped in to repair one of her rings. He hinted at wanting to do something special for her.
After a little time passed, we crossed paths again, and together we sat and discussed alternatives to supergluing a diamond to her ring. But none of us knew what was about to unfold.
I eventually brought in three natural diamonds for her to enjoy. Her eyes widened. It couldn't have been more than a couple minutes, and I glanced over at him as he calmly sits back and pointed at the largest diamond of the three. "I like that one."
There you have it. It wasn't the diamond, it was his way of saying she deserved...more.
But when you have a diamond like this, it deserves only the most beautiful home.
Like so many of my customs, she held the paintbrush. Little things make the biggest impact. The diamond halo finished in hand-cut fishtail prongs. A tribute to his love of the open water, and the creatures that swim below.
A wishbone shank with Blue Sapphires set in platinum. Her request of sourcing a range of blue hues became my priority.
Her influence and vision is showcased throughout every element of this ring; from the color of the sapphires, to combining the vibrant yellow gold with bright platinum accents. A fitting tribute to their journey, their story.
And how does this excting chapter end? From what I'm told, there's a special little granddaughter that only holds the hand with the "sparkly ring".
Something tells me maybe, just maybe, that sparkle will last long enough to grace her hand someday. β€οΈπ
