This technique is called basketweave and it can be done with hair from several different people, as shown below with two different colors of hair or with all hair from one individual. This is a beautiful historical technique for memorial pieces or love tokens. It’s a great option for shorter human hair, as the hair is kept safe under glass in locket or pendant and only 2-3 inches length of hair is needed. The hairwork can easily be inserted in an antique piece as shown below or in a more contemporary setting, depending on your personal preferences. The other side of this antique locket can hold a photo of the person being memorialized or additional hairwork.
