Every year, our city comes together for the Week of Blessings, and I’ve been attending for the past few years now. It’s such a beautiful experience. I wanted to share some highlights that stood out to me because they reach out beyond just the church walls. They encourage our entire community to come together in faith, action, and love, and I think that’s unique these days.
Wednesday was the Blessing of the Marketplace, and it was powerful. Hearing several pastors from different local churches pray over every business in our city was breathtaking. No one was left out; every single business was lifted in prayer, and you could feel God’s presence in every word. 🙌🏼 (The pics are just a couple I managed to snap, in the slides, every industry was included and covered in prayer.)
Thursday was the Blessing of the Fleet. As many of you know, Destin used to be called “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” It’s not exactly a village anymore 😄, but the fishing is still amazing! (To be honest, I used to think fishing was boring, but after becoming a boys’ mom, now you’ll catch me out there reeling in and having the best time. 🎣💙💃🏻)
And today is all about Random Acts of Kindness. So please smile at a stranger, call someone you haven’t talked to in a while, or simply be kind to yourself. 🌸
I’ve already received two unexpected acts of kindness that filled my heart. First, a sweet colleague from Texas, someone I’ve only spoken to twice and never even met in person, called me for a quick business question. But before we hung up, she paused and prayed over me. She didn’t have to. She doesn’t really know me… but felt led to it, and it touched me deeply. Then, one of my boys came to me out of nowhere, sat on my lap, and said, “Thank you for all the things you do for us.”🥹 Moments like these remind me that God uses people, even strangers, and little ones, to show us His love in the most unexpected ways. Now is my turn 😊
