š EIGHT YEARS. š
For eight years, Riggins was somebodyās dog.
He had a family.
He had a home.
He had a routine.
He had people he loved.
Then one day, through no fault of his own, everything changed.
After a divorce, Riggins lost the only life he had ever known and found himself looking for a new place to belong.
And while we know his family loved him, it doesnāt make starting over at 8 years old any easier.
What breaks our hearts most is knowing that puppies will receive dozens of applications while wonderful dogs like Riggins often get overlooked simply because of their age.
But hereās what people are missingā¦
Riggins is past the chewing stage.
Heās past the potty-training stage.
Heās past the wild puppy stage.
What youāre left with is the best part.
A loyal companion.
A devoted best friend.
A dog who already knows how to be part of a family.
Riggins doesnāt need someone to raise him.
He just needs someone to love him.
This handsome Lab mix is wonderful with kids, friendly with everyone he meets, crate trained, potty trained, uses a doggy door, and is fully vetted. Heās the kind of dog that quietly follows you from room to room because being near his people is his favorite thing in the world.
Most days youāll find him napping in a comfy spot, soaking up the simple joys of life. Every now and then heāll break into a playful burst of energy and flash his goofy smile that never fails to make people laugh.
He does have some minor hip issues, but they donāt stop him from enjoying life. With his supplements, heās doing great and still has so much love left to give.
The truth is, we arenāt looking for just any home for Riggins.
Weāre looking for the person who understands that older dogs are special.
The person who knows that when a dog loses everything theyāve ever known, the love they give afterward is unlike anything else.
The person who will show him that his story doesnāt end with heartbreak.
It ends with a family.
