🚨 HOARD ALERT! 🪙✨

Take a look at this incredible lineup! We just got our hands on five stunning Morgan Silver Dollars from the legendary Redfield Collection.

For the history buffs out there, these aren't just your average silver dollars. They come from the famous hoard of LaVere Redfield, a quirky eccentric who hid over 400,000 silver dollars in a secret basement wall of his Reno, Nevada home! 😮 After his passing in 1974, the hoard was discovered, and Paramount International Coin Corp. encapsulated them in these iconic black-holder slabs.

Every single one of these beauties is graded Mint State 60, boasting that classic, vintage look and some seriously gorgeous natural toning.
History you can actually hold in your hand! 🙌

🎨 FROM THE VAULT: 1921 GERMAN PORCELAIN NOTGELD 🎨

Take a look at this stunning piece of history! What you are looking at isn't metal, but incredibly detailed porcelain and stoneware currency from 1920s Germany. When history throws an economic curveball, people get creative. Here is the fascinating story behind these rare pieces:

🏛️ What is "Notgeld"?

Following the devastation of World War I, Germany suffered a severe shortage of metal coins. To keep everyday commerce alive, local municipalities and states began issuing their own localized currency known as Notgeld (Emergency Money).

🏺 The Meissen Masterpieces

While most towns printed cheap paper notes, the Free State of Saxony turned to its most legendary local asset: the world-famous Meissen porcelain factory.

The Material: These pieces are struck from Böttger stoneware - a distinct, reddish-brown ceramic that was highly durable and didn't show dirt or oils from people's hands.

The Artistry: Look closely at the incredibly sharp details. These intricate reliefs - depicting a mother and child, a laborer harvesting wheat, a sailing ship, and a nesting eagle - were designed by Meissen’s renowned master modeler, Paul Börner.

The Gilt Rims: The top three pieces feature beautiful, hand-painted gold (gilt) accents along their scalloped edges.

💰 Pocket Change or Collector's Art?

Though they were technically issued to be spent as Pfennigs and Marks, the stunning craftsmanship meant people recognized their beauty immediately. Many sets, like this one nestled in its original cloth-lined presentation box, were snatched up by collectors in 1921 and preserved as beautiful historical medals rather than spent in the streets.

✨ History isn't just stamped in gold and silver - sometimes it's molded in clay.

💵 DID YOU KNOW THE U.S. ONCE PRINTED $500 AND $1,000 BILLS? 💵

Take a look at this incredible layout from our vault! You aren’t looking at movie prop money these are genuine, historic pieces of high-denomination American currency. While the $100 bill reigns supreme in wallets today, there was a time when much larger notes walked the earth.

Here is a quick trip down monetary history lane:

🏛️ Who is on the Bills?

The $500 Note: Features President William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States.
The $1000 Note: Features President Grover Cleveland, the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms (making him both the 22nd and 24th president).

💼 Why Were They Made?

These giant bills weren't really meant for everyday citizens to buy groceries. They were primarily introduced to help banks and the federal government make massive transfer payments before the invention of secure, modern electronic wire transfers.

🛑 What Happened to Them?

The Last Print: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing actually stopped printing these high-denomination bills way back in 1945. The Final Recall: On July 14, 1969, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve officially discontinued them due to "lack of use" and growing concerns about their potential role in money laundering or tax evasion.

💰 Are They Still Legal Tender?

Yes! Technically, you could walk into a grocery store and buy $500 worth of food with one McKinley note. But please don't! Because they are incredibly scarce and highly sought after by collectors, these bills are worth significantly more than their face value today.

At Easton Rare Coin & Precious Metals, our expertise goes far beyond the scale. ⚖️

We recently took in these stunning antique religious icons (swipe to see the detail!). These pieces represent the kind of unique history we love to evaluate.

These 19th-century Eastern Orthodox icons are remarkable survivors of Russian history, representing a fusion of deep faith and fine artistry. The piece on the left, Christ Pantocrator, is encased in a decorative metal oklad (riza) designed to protect the image, while the wooden panel on the right features St. Antipas, St. Nicholas, and St. Barbara painted in the realistic "Academic" style. Originally created to serve as the spiritual heart of a family home, these artifacts have endured for over a century, offering a rare glimpse into the intricate craftsmanship and religious traditions of the 1800s.

Did you know we buy more than just precious metals? We are active buyers of:
✅ Fine Art & Antiques (like the icons featured here)
✅ Antique War Memorabilia (Medals, uniforms, gear, and documents)
✅ Numismatic Rarities & Paper Money
✅ Estate Jewelry & Sterling Flatware

Skip the "big box" gold buyers and come to the specialists who appreciate the historical value of your items. Visit us in Easton today!
