Meet this beautiful 1897 French 20 Franc Gold Coin, featuring a winged figure writing the French Constitution. But why do collectors call it the Lucky Angel?

⚔️ A COIN THAT SUPPOSEDLY SAVED ITS CREATOR’S LIFE!

During the French Revolution, the coin’s original designer, Augustin Dupré, was reportedly sentenced to ex*****on by guillotine. According to legend, Dupré had one of his own Angel coins with him when his life was in danger.

There are different versions of the story. Some say he used the coin to bribe a guard, while others claim he clutched it and prayed for protection when a sudden lightning strike caused enough chaos to interrupt his ex*****on!

Whatever the truth, the story of Dupré’s miraculous escape became part of the coin’s folklore, earning it a reputation as a symbol of luck, protection, and good fortune. 🍀

🏅THE MINT MARK YOU DON’T “C” EVERY DAY…

This beautiful 1847-C Liberty Head $5 Half Eagle has a detail that many people overlook - the “C” mint mark on the reverse, underneath the eagle. And no, it’s not Carson City!

When most collectors hear “C” mint mark, they immediately think of Carson City, but Carson City used “CC.” The single “C” on this coin represents the Charlotte Mint in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Charlotte Mint operated from 1838–1861, primarily producing gold coins from the gold discovered in the southeastern United States. This 1847 issue had a mintage of 84,151 pieces, making it the highest-mintage $5 Half Eagle ever produced at the Charlotte Mint.

So while “CC” gets all the attention, that little “C” tells an entirely different story - one that takes us back to the early days of American gold mining and the expansion of the United States.

And this coin is 179 years old! 🤯

✨ A TRUE PIECE OF AMERICAN GOLD HISTORY! ✨

Check out this 1888 $3 Gold Indian Princess - a beautiful and increasingly collectible piece of 19th-century American coinage! 🇺🇸🪙

Minted in Philadelphia, this classic Three Dollar Gold was struck from 90% gold, weighs approximately 5.02 grams, and contains about 0.1451 troy oz of pure gold. Only 5,000 circulation-strike examples were produced in 1888, making this a fascinating piece of American history.

The $3 denomination itself is a piece of history produced from 1854–1889, it was originally intended in part to make purchasing postage stamps more convenient. The denomination was eventually discontinued as it never became widely used in everyday commerce.

And just look at the design! 👀
The Indian Princess portrait on the obverse and the elegant wreath surrounding “3 DOLLARS” on the reverse are classic examples of James B. Longacre’s work.

Take a look at this stunning piece of history! What you are looking at isn't metal, but incredibly detailed porcelain and stoneware currency from 1920s Germany. When history throws an economic curveball, people get creative. Here is the fascinating story behind these rare pieces:

🏛️ What is "Notgeld"?

Following the devastation of World War I, Germany suffered a severe shortage of metal coins. To keep everyday commerce alive, local municipalities and states began issuing their own localized currency known as Notgeld (Emergency Money).

🏺 The Meissen Masterpieces

While most towns printed cheap paper notes, the Free State of Saxony turned to its most legendary local asset: the world-famous Meissen porcelain factory.

The Material: These pieces are struck from Böttger stoneware - a distinct, reddish-brown ceramic that was highly durable and didn't show dirt or oils from people's hands.

The Artistry: Look closely at the incredibly sharp details. These intricate reliefs - depicting a mother and child, a laborer harvesting wheat, a sailing ship, and a nesting eagle - were designed by Meissen’s renowned master modeler, Paul Börner.

The Gilt Rims: The top three pieces feature beautiful, hand-painted gold (gilt) accents along their scalloped edges.

💰 Pocket Change or Collector's Art?

Though they were technically issued to be spent as Pfennigs and Marks, the stunning craftsmanship meant people recognized their beauty immediately.
