This post is aging well. Phenotype is still our best option.

I have a starter flock/pet flock/imperfect but usable bird flock of Ayam Cemani if you are willing to learn and improve them that I'd let go of.

The c**k is 1.5 years old and not my breeding. He has some recessive genes that would take time and effort to remove and work with.

Then I have 3-5 hens ranging from 2 years old to 4 years old who I have used for my own breeding I just have replacements and need space. Not perfect.

I'll also have a few pet quality or breeder quality that need help in some areas silkie hens available.

If this interests you, reach out.

It's been a while since I've introduced myself and I have a bunch of new followers!

My name is Sarah and the handsome fella with me is my husband, Casey.

We met at 16 and 17 years old.

We live at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.

Chickens and all farm animals are my hobby. I was born on a farm so I've raised animals my whole life. We own a boat lift company and a marina that are our real jobs.

We have 4 kids. 2 boys- Preston is 18, Parker is 16, and our twin girls Austyn and Aivery are 14.

I enjoy eating steak as many days a week as possible. I snuggle chickens and scoop p**p for my sanity. I work hard to produce fantastic birds, but being a breeder of many years of many animals, I am realistic and know the challenges.

We are blessed, God is so good 🙌

Anything you'd like to know, just ask!

What are you currently working on?

I'm working on bringing blacker skin back in my silkies. I've got type and wings closer to where I want them so I'm focusing on deeper fibro this next year.

In my Ayam Cemani .... what am I not working on? Lol I love these birds and the challenges and wins and losses. I've learned to embrace them. Learn. Not point fingers. Call the BS. And always put in the work myself to improve them.

I don't understand it. It doesn't seem to follow a pattern I am able to pick up. Some are darker than others from the same hatch. Anyways. It's really cool. This is the inside of an Ayam Cemani egg after a chick hatched.
