Salty Girl and the Long Dog

Salty Girl and the Long Dog Bringing the natural world into your home! Cherie is part mermaid! She’s salty and spicy and not afraid to roll up her pants and get her toes dirty.

Her unique driftwood creations reflect the natural calm and beauty of a day spent by the seashore. It is the whimsical nature of Cherie’s artistic process, along with her keen eye for aesthetic elegance, that make her one-of-a-kind creations unlike any others.

If only she could help letter signs! My shoulder is still on the mend, but I’m determined to get a little done. Limiting myself to lettering one sign a day 🤪

From a rugged beach find to a statement piece in your home 🪵🌊✨
Ever wonder how a wild piece of ocean driftwood becomes a stunning, sturdy handrail? It’s a labor of love, and today we’re taking you behind the scenes of our latest creation!
When we find that perfect beach branch, the real work begins. For our extra-long handrails (anything over 8 feet!), we carefully cut and peg them so they can travel safely to their new homes.
Right now, we’re in the studio filling in the natural cracks. This step ensures the wood is incredibly strong, durable, and smooth to the touch, all while keeping that beautiful, raw “salty girl” character you love. 🛠️🤍
The best part? We ship it straight to you, and it goes back together seamlessly with a little epoxy. A true piece of the Maine coast, built to last.
Drop a 🌊 if you love seeing the process!

Gotta make a new rental arch this week with only one arm! Luckily I found a finish carpenter that can build it with me directing him. This one-arm thing is a bit of an inconvenience! 3 more weeks in the sling! Can’t wait to have 2 arms again!

I hand-lettered this custom model sailboat bar menu just before my shoulder surgery — one of my last big projects before I had to put the brushes down for a while. Between healing from surgery and battling Lyme for the 5th time, creating has looked a little different lately.

Seeing this boat all styled for a wedding bar has me feeling hopeful and honestly… really excited to get back to painting again soon 💙

Little by little, I’m getting there.

Another annual driftwood arch delivery to the beautiful Oceanview of Nahant 💙

This one hit a little different.

With my rotator cuff surgery happening Wednesday, this was my last big install before I’m officially out of commission for a while. I’ve been trying to practice using my left arm because my right one won’t be much help for the next couple months 😅
There’s something emotional about loading up one more arch, making one more coastal delivery, and soaking in the ocean views before slowing down for healing.

Grateful for every couple who trusts us to be part of their wedding day.
Grateful for Anthony helping me get this beast delivered.

And grateful my body held on long enough to get one more big project done.

Now… time to heal ❤️

How am I supposed letter a wedding pennant with Ruby on my back??!!!

Some pieces are more than decor… they become part of the story 🤍

I hand-painted this canoe paddle with a custom wedding crest for a sweet couple to use as a guest book alternative at their wedding. Instead of signing a traditional book, their guests will leave well wishes and signatures directly on the paddle — creating a keepsake filled with love, memories, and the people who celebrated beside them on their big day.

I love creating pieces that become part of a family’s history 🕊️

Life threw me a curveball… again.
Lyme for the 5th time and a torn rotator cuff that needs surgery.

For the next few months, I won’t have the strength to create like I normally do… so I pivoted.

I added apparel to my site so I can keep my business alive while I heal.

If you choose to support me, you’re not just buying a shirt… you’re helping me stay afloat while I heal 🤍
